Still Researching Foods Vote for this post

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with these foods?
Instinct
Fromm
Innova
California Natural

I went to dogfoodanalysis.com & these all got a good review. Instinct is a 6 star food (highest rating), Fromm & Innova are 5 and California Natural is 4. The food Zoe & Tucker eat now is only a 2. With Zoe's sensitive tummy and picky taste buds, I'm having trouble finding something she can and will eat.

Oh poor Zoe.
I hope you can find something for her to eat.

If I may make some suggestions.
First, try one of the foods that does not contain grains.

Dick Van Patten's brand called Natural Balance is one of the brands with several varieties of foods with potatoes or sweet potatoes.
It is also one of the highest rated foods their is.

There are other pet food makers that make grain free foods, too.
Canidae has one, another highly rated food.

You may also experiment with different protein sources, as well.
Natural Balance has 3 or 5 varities of potato based or sweet potato based foods with different proteins.

One of the most successful foods for Westies is Natural Balance Sweet Potato and fish. Many Westies on Dogster with food sensitivities tolerate this food really well.

Try to buy your foods at a store that will let you return the food or exchange it when Zoe won't eat it or if it upsets her tummy.

You're just going to have to go through this with trial and error and eventually you'll find a good food that Zoe will tolerate.

Let me know if you want me to suggest some more brands and I'll run up to our local pet supply store and see what else is out there. They only carry premium quality. None of the foods they carry were in the China scandal.

Big hugs to poor Zoe.

Here is a link to my local store's website.
This page lists all the foods they carry with links to those various suppliers.

I know that you didn't have good luck with the wellness but our rescue group has also used Innova with success.

When I asked your question of a friend of mine who is trained in pet nutrition and works for an exclusive pet store in Kansas, here was her reply:

Okay Sailor, this is what I know. Instinct would be the best, of course because it's grain-free, but on the other hand, California Natural is good for a sensitive tummy because it has very simple ingredients, also good for allergy prone pups. We eat California Natural as a crunchy topping on our raw diet.

But, they are all good foods. Tell her that there are probably samples available of those foods to try. The Innova and Fromm are very good, too. It just depends on what doesn't upset her doggie's tummy - mostly trial and error.

we wish we could get Nature diet over here. We found a shop that delivered to Switzerland, but the next time I placed an order they told me they had disagreed with the shipper and could no longer send it to me. I know ronny wouldn't have so many problems if he was on that.

We use Nature's Variety ---they are the "brand" for the Instinct line. Katy eats Venison and Millet (their Prarie formula) and we also give her Instinct canned lamb. Katy loves it! They also have raw foods - Katy didn't care for it. I have nothing but good things to say about the Nature's Variety brand. Katy was eatting Hills RX diet before it, and now she has NO problems (tummy issues). They have many different protein sources - chicken, lamb, venison, duck, rabbit...Prarie formula has high quality grains along with the protein and Instinct is grain free. Good luck! It is hard to find senstive puppers something that works for them. We are so glad that we found this, because it works for us!

We was using Natural Balance and tried all the different flavors. It is not that high on the dogfood List as many think.
Moshe has a very sensetive tummy and ended up with ZD food from the vet and you have to have a prescription for that.(over 32 dollars a bag) He has IBD ( IBS).
Now we also use Nature's Variety brand Prairie New zealand venison and millet. The vet says it is very good food and easy to digest.
He has no more problems at all and is doing so well .
I would not buy anything else.
Thanks to Katy he is doing beautiful and Levi too.

We do well with Wellness and Solid Gold. We find it's the size of the kibble and that it is human grade.
