Paco Is In HIs Forever Home
At least I think he is! It's going much better than I thought it would, and much better than his visit on Saturday. A moment ago I found him in Joy's bed. His expression seems to say Is this where I'm suppose to sleep, Mom? (No Paco, for now you will sleep in your crate). As I type this he and Chester are playing together like best of friends. I'm hoping having him fixed will stop the "marking". He does a LOT of it! A pair of my Nike socks make a great belly band. One is folded up and serves as the pad and is tucked inside the other. If he has to wear the stupid things I'm anxious to get him some cute ones. He's a very, very smart little guy, so interested in the world around him, so attentive and alert. He loves for me to hold and cuddle him but that causes Chester to get jealous. He just stands there and barks and barks. Paco goes when I take him outside and has even, in his own way, let me know that he wanted to go out. The shelter girls think he's only a year old. I just don't understand how his owners could not care that he had disappeared and made no effort to get him back.

He's going to be one of those really hard dogs to photograph. His eyes are NOT blue but I can't get them to NOT look blue.

I always try to do pictures at an angle so I'm not taking them with the flash in their eyes. Not always successful, but you might try it. He's a cutie.

Re: Paco Is In HIs Forever Home
Congrats Charlene! He looks like a natural fit! he may be marking because he is new and of course, mr chester is a male too but i am sure once he figures out that outside is the place for marking - it will all work out -- I had two westie boys before these two boys and it all worked out well - plus chester was used to being a sibling :-)
Best of luck and that Paco has a long life and I know it will be filled with love.
Hugs

Congratulations!! When Caesar first came here he and Cooper did not get along, they are now the best of friends and hate to be apart.
When Caesar first came here, the marking was terrible. Now 8 months later, I don't think he would ever mark inside again!
Can't wait to see many pics!!!
SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!!

What did you do to get him to quit the marking? Or did he quit on his own?

Re: Paco Is In HIs Forever Home
Charleen, I'm so happy that Paco is fitting in with you and Chester so well. He is a real sweetie. You'll have to experiment with the flash to figure out how to eliminate the reflection from his eyes. You may have to use room light and shut off the flash. Big hugs to Paco for finding such a wonderful home.

Re: Paco Is In HIs Forever Home
Paco is a real cutie. I'm with you and think the marking will be better once he is neutered. I had to stay on Mulligan when he came to live with us about the marking. If I caught him, I'd (gently) grab him up and yell at him bloody murder and put him outside. Then I would ignore him for about 30 minutes while he sat looking at me so pitiful through the glass. That took about 3 times to get him to stop. I wish I'd had belly bands back then. Congrats...

Re: Paco Is In HIs Forever Home
Congratulations Charleen and Chester on your new addition - he's a handsome little guy with such pretty markings. I'm thinking he already knows that he has found the very best furever home in all of South Dakota! You will all have so much fun getting to know each other. I wonder if he'll ever try the "Box".....he may need his own smaller version. ENJOY!

Re: Paco Is In HIs Forever Home
Looks like all will be grand Charleen! So happy for all 3 of you! jasper marked alot when he first came to us. We had a can with pennies in it- whenever we caught him in the act, we shook the can. He really hated it! He had one particular spot that he liked to mark (the leg of the couch) so we put some cayenne pepper and olive oil together and rubbed it on the leg- the smell was enough to send him running from the area before he even thought about marking. The only time he does anything like that now (after 4 years) is if my daughter brings my grand-dog into the house- it makes jas jealous and he'll mark if not watched carefully. Congrats on the new family member!

Re: Paco Is In HIs Forever Home
Congratulations Charleen . He is so cute . Love his name too Paco. How nice that Chester plays with him and I hope the marking will be over soon. Moshe also still get jealous once in a while just try to give just as much attention to Chester as Paco. Moshe always has eyes like that and I change them. I do not have trouble with Levi's eyes and find it very srange. It is the same camera.

Re: Paco Is In HIs Forever Home
Hi Charleen,I thought i had posted last night but I can't find it here now. Just wanted to say how happy I am for you -- he is adorable! I know the marking issues will go away. He's got very beautiful markings. Would love to see a pic of him and his big brother when you have time -- is there a big size difference? I bet Chester's really happy to have a new sibling and I am very happy for you, too!
I'm sorry i didn't respond earlier -- I've been out of my mind worrying about Roo but I just wanted to let you know I'm so happy for you & look forward to lots of pics and adventures!
Hugs, Cheryl

I've been trying to get a picture of my two boys together but it hasn't happened yet and not sure if it ever will. They don't sit still long enough! I'll keep trying. Yes, there's quite a size difference. Chester's 23 pounds and Paco is just over 6.
