Re: Roo.... Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

This morning he's a little perkier. He's walked around a few times but seems happiest lying on his back next to me and getting tummy rubs. We're all feeling the effects of yesterday, I think. Trip seems better, too, I am just exhausted.

So yesterday's road trip to an antique car museum got called off, as is our trip to the wine country. I think we're just going to hang out here. Neither of us has much energy or enthusiasm right now (Trip says "everything seems like too much work" this morning and i tend to agree.

Champagne bottle still intact -- I didn't feel much like celebrating.

This vacation will probably go down in (our) history as the ho-hum vacation. I think that next time I am able to get a week off, I will have made definite reservations somewhere away from here because just not planning much of anything hasn't worked too well!

So glad that Roo and Trip seem to be doing better.  Those "Staycations" can be tricky.  We tried one once when our children were small and ended up in the ER with our son and his broken arm.  This was on the first day!  Needless to say we didn't do anything the rest of the week-so we know what you're going through.  It looks like things are looking up though, so there may still be time to do a few things that you wanted.  Cozy up and enjoy being home and with each other.

Afternoon update Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

He's mostly sleeping today, although he's been out to widdy a few times and he's walking much better & doesn't seem to be in pain like yesterday. I think the sleeping is helping with the healing, so I'm letting him sleep as much as he needs.

Dinner and meds in about 2 hours.

I'm hoping to see a little more improvement tomorrow. Please keep prayers coming for my boy?

We're downstairs in the basement where it's nice and cool (upstairs, it is really hot and humid). I'm working on PAWZ, my new project. Slow going but helps keep my mind busy and my little buddy is asleep next to me on his little doggie bed..

On the positive side -- so glad I didn't pressure Trip into going to the Outer Banks or Cape Cod this week -- looks like we'd be keeping company with Hurricane Earl. So that's good. (I'm working on a list of good things to think about and that one popped up.)

Thanks for caring so much for my little guy. I am SO not used to him being sick and it has me such a wreck.

BTW, I was a little concerned about his weight being at 15.8 pounds, so I had the vet look up his weight on previous visits. At one time, when he was still very young, he had gotten up to 20 pounds and there was a notation that they wanted his weight down. Over the last 2 years, actually, when I thought he was around 17-18 pounds, he's actually been somewhere in the 15 - 16 pound range. I didn't realize he was such a lightweight. He sure doesn't look small or petite. I guess he's just nice and lean. I don't think he'll lose weight during this illness because although he's pretty pitiful compared to his norm, he's still intensely interested in eating!

Sorry for rambling -- I'm just relieved that things are starting to look up for him...
.

They say that everything happens for a reason but this is one heck of a way to stay out of the way of a hurricane! Glad to hear that Roo is doing better today. I know this isn't something that you get over in a day or two so we'll keep those prayers coming and hope that Roo's back to his cucumber eating self real soon!

Trip seems all better and Roo is improving. I, however, have a pulled muscle or something in my neck and shoulder and it's extremely painful.

This is not my week.

You are right about that. Went to the docs office . . . Wasn't a pulled muscle after all . . . it's shingles.
