Cross fingers! Vote for this post

I was discouraged that our adoption of Teddy didn't work out, but like a terrier, I am tenacious and determined!

Trip and I submitted an application to Colonel Potter today for a 2-year-old boy. So I am going to ask once more for your support and encouragement. His name is Ben. He is a Wheaten color with darker ears.

I wasn't able to copy his picture but if you go to Col. Potter's page and click on OUR DOGS, he is on page 3 (last page) of photos. Scroll down and Look for Ben. He's wearing a lime green collar.

I have heard wonderful things about Col. Potter ... Let's hope they think we're a great match!

I know those ladies well. I will cross my fingers for you! Mishy was wheaten with black tips and black button eyes. I like the wheatens best because you can see their eyes. I know you will be approved and matched with someone even if it isn't Ben.

Hope you get him Cheryl, he's gorgeous. We see very few Cairns here in Australia and never any in rescue, although Westies in rescue are becoming a little more common but not to the extent that they are in the USA.

Oh Cheryl He is adorable. what a sweet face.  I had a Cairn for 17 years, before I got my first westie Buster.  He was a sweet funny little girl, really smart.

God luck with the adoption. Paws crossed.

woohoo! You passed the first hurdle and since we all know how loved, spoiled and well taken care of Roo was, your references should have nothing but good things to say. Home safety is the tough part.

Re: Cross fingers! Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

I have heard back that my references have all been called (don't know about our vet yet, but I'm confident that will be a good one). Still more steps to go in the process. Don't know if they will match us with dear Ben. If not, I will be very disappointed but if not, they said they will pair us with a matchmaker once our application has been approved. We are SO hoping that we will be matched with him.

And I hate to write this part: if not matched to him, they will continue to look for a match.

But you know what? Let's hope for a Christmas miracle for Ben to be ours. Bring me all your terriertude, Ok?

I think he needs us and we need and will love him!

ANOTHER UPDATE Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

It's a no-go on dear little Ben. Timing just wasn't right. But I still have my application on file with Col. Potter and they will be looking for a match for us.

Sorry it didn't work out with little Ben but you never know what may happen. I'm sure there's a little guy out there who needs you as much as you need him.

My "niece" Rupee (Cattle Dog mix) is here with me and I will have her cross paws for you that someone pops up soon. The matchmakers are great from what I can see. You may also want to join Cairn Rescue Mentoring. You can get a good idea of what the fosters are like and any incoming fosters that may be in need of you. In the meantime, maybe you can become a blanket auntie or do something else to help out your future Cairn pal.

So sorry to hear you did not get matched with Ben. I hope you soon have a new boy to love Cheryl. It must be a big disappointment.
Hope you soon have a new male pup to love.
Maybe someone else had his name too.
Do not give up the right one will come along.
Sending hugs and love your way to you both.
Yoka,Levi and Winter.

Where We Stand Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

Application received and reviewed

References have been called (not sure about Vet but all personal references)

Found out that Ben had been matched. I was premature in wishing for him. Once my application is approved then start wishing and hoping!

Home visit will be scheduled once they find a volunteer near enough to us to do one.

Application will be voted upon -- yes or no.

Wait and pray!

Good luck. Wow that's quite the process, ensures they find a good home I guess. I am not sure what the rescue groups do here (not that many of them). Hope your application is approved soon and they find you a little buddy.
