My 15 minutes of fame! Vote for this post

Way back in the day, My dear friend Georgia Griffis, who had 4 Westie girls and volunteered for a rescue group, posted a picture of a Westie boy who needed saving. His name was Boo Boo. I took ONE look at that face and said, "I have to have that boy." Georgia was gracious enough to pull & foster him until I could make arrangements to get him. In early August 2002, Georgia drove from Little Rock and I flew from Albany and we met at the Nashville Airport so I could get my precious cargo, now named Roo, and fly him home. And thus began a wonderful love story!

Fast forward a few years....after Roo's passing, I once again contacted Georgia. We were ready for a new dog to love. And along came Zena, who was so unlike Roo, but just as deserving of a home to call her own.

Today, Georgia (volunteering with Out of the Woods Animal Rescue) shared Zena's wonderful story on Facebook, along with some great pictures. This was Zena's 15 minutes of fame! I'm not sure yet how to share the story & pictures if you don't have access to FB, but if enough people are interested, I will try.

I'm not sharing any of this to brag, but to point out the WONDERFUL way that rescue can work ... to match appropriately, overcome obstacles, and find homes for those who have no voice to advocate for themselves.

And, yes, as awesome as Zena is, my heart still yearns for a Westie to love. If it's meant to be, it will happen, and I can almost guarantee that dear Georgia will have a hand in it!

Georgia sounds like a wonderful person with a huge heart and a wish to see every rescue go to a loving home. We should all have someone like her in our lives! I'm sure it does your heart good to know that you've been able to play a part in providing that loving home to two very different rescues and hopefully, sometime in the future, a third!

my heart still yearns for a Westie to love.

I understand these words all too well.
Some days I miss the Sisters so much, and at times it's like I can feel Phoenix, but when I check out a Westie I just can't do it. I feel my self choking up as I remember Phoenix.
She took care of Faith, stayed close to Stormie when she was sick, even kept nudging me the day I fell till I started moving.
Maybe someday another special Westie will find us.
Sending Hugs,
Eve
