Addison's - Incontinence?

Hi all. My Westie Maggie Mae was diagnosed with Addison's last October. Since then, she is doing well (overall) with monthly DOCP. She is now becoming incontinent while sleeping. I have read two recommendations. The first is hormone replacement, since spayed dogs with Addison's frequently have incontinence problems. The second is that incontinence is a side effect of DOCP and changing her meds might help. If anyone has had this problem and can shed some light, I would greatly appreciate it.

Cant help with your question.. but .. for the girls, you can get a large baby 'onesie' and use it as a diaper holder.. put a sanitary napkin in it.. you put the onesie front down the dogs back, bring the tail up between their legs and snap the outer snaps around the tail.. It worked well with my cairn puppy during housetraining.

good luck

Now I've heard that incontinence can be down to spaying. A lady in the park has a bitch that has to have courses of tablets around her season time or she dribbles in her sleep. It does the trick though...

Is she taking Prednisone? I know if it's too high a dosage it can cause incontinence. Which I should really check with Stewie because he pees WAY too much. Here is a good Addison's link.

I would tweek the pred and go to the LOWEST maintainence dose. My Sabrina is on .75 mg which is 1/8 of a pill. I recently switched to the liquid and she is on even less, so 'd start with that. Does your vet weigh her each and every time she goes in for the DOCP shot? The amount will vary with each and every ounce the gains or loses from month to month.
