Putting drops in Elliot's eye

Awhile back I asked one of you how to put eye drops in a pup's eye. I don't remember ANYTHING about what you said but need to find a way to get the drops in Elliot's eye. His right eye has always been kinda squinty and now he's blinking and rubbing it a lot again. I have drops but he still remembers them from last time I used them and runs.

Please refresh my memory - Memory that's an understatement 2 surgeries with lots of drugs....
I don't have anything simular to a memory right now! LOL

Having to put a drop in Ms. Taffy's eye each night......I hold her head against me, and put my arm under her neck....tilt her head and let a drop go in the eye....

Just a word....if Elliots squinting....sometimes it is better to have the eye checked even if you think it is the same thing as before, as that can go with cornea probs...

I have the hair around the eyes shaved as they grow straight down over that eye as you can see in this old pic of him taken right after his 2nd grooming. He's in need for a grooming now so I'm betting that's part of his problem. That eye also tears all the time and now the 2nd one started tearing so I was going to use these drops for a few days and if they don't clear up, take him to the vet. He gets so much dirt in his eyes while digging it's terrible! That's probably due to me having the hair trimmed short around them.

My Laddie on one of the rare occasions I had him groomed had a very runny red eye, I put it down to the groomer getting shampoo in his eye, it was very red and teary, I swabbed the eye in a salt solution, and it cleared the problem.
Another story if the eye is infected, calls for a vets opinion.
I have had no trouble putting drops in, just hold his head firmly and well back toward your chest,

I'd do it the same way as Carolyn, by holding him firmly under his chin with his back against your chest...

Yes, but it's the best hold you can get. You've just got to be VERY fast !!!

I used to come up to Kali from behind, speak to her and when she looked up at me (I am behind her right?) I would squirk the drops in no problem. If she saw the bottle, forget it. She would have bitten the fire out of me. She was good at that but I loved her to bits anyway. Good luck.

Sug gets eye drops 3 times a day for her genetic eye disorder. She is really good about getting the drops. Maybe because she always gets a treat at the end, that way she knows something good is coming from the discomfort that we put her through (for her own good).
