Tessie the Westie

Sad News
We wanted our friends at the Terrierclub to know that our dear little Tessie passed away on Sunday due to Congestive Heart Failure. She was almost 15 yrs. old, and had a great long life, but nevertheless, we are very saddened to think of life without her. She was diagnosed only 2 mos. ago, but was not able to tolerate the heart meds at all, only the Lasix for fluid retention. Still, she really tried hard to rally, but was too tired/weak to go on. Taddish, her 'brother' Cairn, is inconsolable...he's going around looking for her all over the house/yard...it's heartbreaking. We can't imagine life without a Westie, so maybe early next year, we'll adopt again. In the meantime, we have many, many fond memories and good stories of Tessie, and we know time will help heal the emptiness. Thanks to all of you for your friendship through the years.

Sue, Tom and Taddish, I'm so very sorry to hear this.....it doesn't sound "right" saying Taddish without Tessie first....thankyou for giving her a wonderfully long and happy life.

I know how you feel. We're so sorry to hear of Tessie's going to Rainbow Bridge. But take comfort in knowing that there are alot of friends that greeted her...Babe, Noodles, Mo, Taffy, Tasha, Gremmie, Fergie, Zoey, and many others. She is happy and running and playing and they are all sharing stories of great adventures.
Those thoughts helped me deal with Babe's going to the Bridge. We will remember you all in our prayers.

My condolences on your loss of Tessie, but how lucky she was to have a good long life with a loving family. I lost my girl Sara from congestive heart failure this past March but she had been on meds for 1 1/2 years, and did well till the last week.
Taddish will miss her terribly, and I know that hurts you to see him grieve so.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, as well. How old was Sara? It's nice to know that some can benefit from the meds...Tessie just got really sick, vomiting and diarrhea, which was harder on her heart than just leaving it alone..the Lasex did help with her breathing, but not enough. Thanks for your thoughts/message, and thanks to everyone who responded, it really helps.

Sara was a senior when she came from rescue to our home so we will never know what her age was, she may have been younger than Tessie.
I'm sorry the meds did not agree with her. For some the Lasix is the problem, I guess Sara was just lucky to have some extra quality time.

Please accept my sincere sympathy in your loss. We have all been down this road and will again many more times. It is never easy but the love that they give us over the years makes up for the hole they leave in our hearts. Hugs from the Alabama Boys and me.

I am so sorry to hear this. No matter how long we are lucky enough to have them in our lives, it is never long enough. Please accept my condolences. I hope little Taddish starts rallying soon. I know it would break my heart to see him so bewildered and unhappy.
