looking for a rescue cairn
Hi. I live in southern Washington state and am looking for a rescue Cairn. Preference would be a young male, but will consider anything except a dog requiring extensive medical care (I've been there, done that with my own foster/rescue work--need a break). Shipping/travel is not ruled out, depending on overall expenses. Anyone with leads?

Re: looking for a rescue cairn
Hi Laurie, Have you checked Colonel Potter and Cairn Rescue USA. They each have listings from throughout the US. There seems to be more in the East and mid-west than here on West Coast. Good luck, Pam

Re: looking for a rescue cairn
Col Potter's does ship, and you can take most cairns in the cabin with you if you fly (assuming the airline takes any dogs)

Re: looking for a rescue cairn
Thanks, Corinne. We can't adopt through Col Potter's, however, as they have a restriction that you can't have children under the age of 12--we have a 4-yr-old and a 7-yr-old, besides their 14-yr-old sister. They are very accustomed to animals, but I understand Potter's rule--the animals in rescue come from a variety of backgrounds and small children could be traumatic for the dogs or vice versa--guess it's a chance the potter's people just don't want to take. Does limit my options, however.

There are a lot of cairns on www.petfinder.com
Perhaps you should check there.
