Re: Col Potter Status 9/13/03
That's very sad to see two owner surrenders at their senior ages.....people can be bloody heartless, can't they ? What must go through their little heads at being turned over like that ?? XXX.

Re: Col Potter Status 9/13/03
Lynda, what you find a lot of times is that many senior dogs end up in rescue after their masters die. The masters mistakenly believe that their children will take care of their senior dogs and don't make any provisions in their wills for the dogs. Next thing you know, the dog is in rescue (or worse, at a shelter or on the streets to fend on its own).
Senior rescue dogs IMO are a treasure. It's too bad more people don't consider adopting one. At Cairn Rescue USA we get tons of applications asking for a dog under 3 yo and so very few willing to consider a senior dog. Yet the seniors are the most gentle, loving and grateful dogs of the bunch and have such a dignity about them, they are a joy to have and are very low maintenance as far as what makes them happy . I adopted a senior girl this year who is 15 yo and fits both descriptions above. Violetta

My thought exactly Lynda. Thanks for these updates - it reminds us all how busy you guys are, how much of your time you devote to this and how many lucky special little dogs find new homes due to your selfless work. A huge pat on the back and lots of kudos to you.
