Ainsley, 10-12 update

From her foster mom, Ann. Scruffy is one of her dogs.

Ainsley is 2 years old, and her left eye is still swollen with much redness
in the area that should be white. It is unknown if there is permanent damage
yet, which is why we have her, our eye doctor is the best we can find (only
the best for my Scruff-Man). The left side of her face still seems a bit
swollen and she doesn't respond with her felt eye to sudden movements at
all, but we aren't doctors and need to have that professionally assessed. My
vet will see her first so he can make an assessment and then refer us to the
specialist, if necessary. She may just be very sore, but apparently no
x-rays were taken so that may be in her future. I trust my vet very much,
knowing that if he thinks her eye problem is beyond his expertise, he will
say so and send her to my specialist. He also gives us a discount of bills
so that will help some too. The left side of her rib cage, also seems
swollen and a bit tender to her at times. I'm wondering if the leg problem
comes from the same cruel "attack" on her. She can use it, but it is very
weak and gives away on her at times. She's very weak in general, seeming a
bit "wobbly" at times, but her not eating could account for that. She did
eat some breakfast this morning so this is encouraging, but she still has
terrible diarrhea and her poor little butt is as red as can be, with a lot
of hair coming out of the base. We're keeping her clean, using a topical
antibiotic on her butt and pretty much letting her do what she wants right
now. I'm about to take her temperature since she seems to still have some
fever, and will give her a baby aspirin if needed. I think she's glad to be
with people and not kept crated anymore. She really hates a crate, but she's
been very isolated this week and still feeling not so well. She's getting
lots of attention and love and I adore that she is spending time with
Scruffy. We expanded his corner and put another blanket down for her to
share his area. There's a feeling of seclusion and comfort in this corner of
Scruffy's (which is right next to the computer), he knows he's out of the
main stream and nobody can step on him or get in his way. This is a good
place for her now, rather than being crated, she can still move about at
will, yet be alone if needed. I'll keep you all posted, she's a charming dog
and I can't imagine how anyone could have thought of hurting her. She's so
tiny and helpless. Good thoughts for Ainsley!

Thanks for the update. I feel so sorry for this poor little baby girl and just cannot understand how anyone could do this to her. It sounds like a wonderful home that she is being fostered in and I am sure she is soaking up the love that will help her heal faster. We send our love and lots of hugs and kisses.
