Cheyenne Reply to this Message

From Foster mom Monica

Tonight we had our first socialization lesson for Cheyenne. I took her to my Vet where first of all she weight in at 10 ½ lbs. She gained ½ pound in a little over a week, not bad. Then we where just sitting in the waiting room and greeted people and dogs coming and going. I must say; I am very proud of that little girl, she made friends with a female German Shepherd a male Black Lab and she let everyone pet her. Even the owner of the Black Lab a tall man with a
very deep voices. She did well, I am so proud of her; she had the office staff and vet assistant sitting on the floor with her.
Needless to say she got a very special treat tonight and is now very happy.

Dakota is in a first time foster home in MI.. she is very nervous around the husband and he has asked for help in how to deal with her rejection and fears. There are two other cairns in this home that are also trying to help.
I think she'll be fine.. the humor in the questions shows how much they care (he questioned if he cross dressed if Dakota might decide he was ok, but rejected it since he couldnt fit in his wife's clothes anyway)

Sedona Reply to this Message

well, my dh wouldnt consider cross dressing.. but he too is having difficulties with rejection.. you see, Sedona is very nervous around him...
its very obvious that she connects men with bad things.. and she particularly panicked when my dh and Duncan came near one day.. both are taking it slow.. we figure he has moved from 'Nice Ogre' from 'Ogre' and he is hoping to become 'Maybe not an Ogre' very soon.
I'll be retiring tomorrow. I have to go visit Mom for a bit, but when i get back I'll be home all day and we hope less crate time will help open her up more. (DH is threatening to let her sleep in the bed - a foster no no - while i'm gone to move him up in the ratings)
Sedona is still a perky happy little girl.. but she gets nervous about quick moves and men in general. She still hasnt figured out the 'play' thing yet..but she is so personable and so pretty.

Update on Geronimo Reply to this Message

And Geronimo is with us in Wisconsin. He was frightened and shaking when we picked him up on Saturday. He is no longer shaking and is showing some signs of a terriertude. He remains afraid of noises, loves TV and our back yard. He is very cute and handsome!

He got a nice spa treatment last night at the groomer, got a nice little bath, a fix-up shave and nails clipped. He enjoyed it a lot and the groomer said he was a very good boy.

He eats well but is not food aggressive. He has latched on to me and likes to follow me but seems to need to stay under the computer table a lot. I take him out of there and coax him into other areas but when he hears a noise he runs back.

He is protective of Scarlet, the other little girl we have now--they have bonded wonderfully. She is a frightened little thing too but very beautiful. Everyone that meets her falls in love with her--. The groomer wanted to keep her.

We had to take both due to an emergency in the planned foster home--at least for a week or two. Then someone will be moving elsewhere unless they are placed already. I wish they could go together--they are a good match.

So, "Mo" as we call him, is doing pretty well. He is going to be a leader in the home he goes to--definite leader qualities in that boy--very regal! He and Mindy bonded right away--he does not try to take over her role but would move to 2nd in command in the doggie hierarchy. He is very sweet and gentle with Scarlet. Harley is a little frightened of him and gives him space. But Harley has gotten her to run and play and be silly in the back yard. It will take time to get her to be wild and crazy inside the house. Molly, as usual, stays out of all of the politics in the doggie world, and is just cute! She does greet them every morning!

I'll post some photos after they are up at Col. Potter's.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Reply to this Message

We miss the little Indians and worry about them. We are so happy to see that they are doing good. Mom was afraid that maybe they would shut down completely...but so relieved to hear they are getting along. We had no doubts that Sedona would do okay...but were very worried about the other three. So thank you...it's good news.

one more on Sedona Reply to this Message

I came home early from work.. and the day was beautiful.. so I sat in the back yard with the dogs..

Sedona and Edy zoomed and played with a partially deflated ball.. Edy is a bit taller so she had an easier time doing the 'shake to kill' maneuver.. but Sedona did try it.. except the ball kept getting caught on her legs.. then she found a little whale toy that had gotten taken outside (Duncan does that when I dont do mouth checks on his way out the door) .. she acted like it was Christmas.. such fun.

I was ecstatic.. She had not played at all here.. just walked around with a prance.. now she's played..

of course my DH is still 'mr nice ogre'

Corinne, please, if you can, put Glen's story on the TC. I laughed myself silly, and if I had one more nook or cranny in my house I would be begging for him right now. He sounded like such an adorable dog, and all terrier.
