Christy Update
A WRM volunteer will be picking up Christy from her vet's office on Monday. We will bring her back to the KC area to have her assessed by vets who have experience in White Shaker Dog Syndrome.
There was a post about Christy yesterday on the regular message board and I need to clarify that Christy has NOT been adopted.
We are going to have to do a medical and behavioral evaluation before we know what is going on with Christy.
I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for Christy. We are hoping for a good outcome.

We don't have a home for Christy yet. After we get her to Kansas City, we are going to see if we can step her down off the prednisone. Then, we will see what we have.
It's going to be a drawn out process. And, I can't say what will happen in the end. Some dogs with neurological problems do not live very happy lives. But, we haven't evaluated Christy so I have no answers right now.

Ethel's update on Christy Thursday afternoon:
Hi Ladies,
I just talk with my vet and he is willing to wean Christy off the pred and onto valium. He said it may take 4 to 6 weeks to complete the process. He would like to do a complete physical on her Tuesday of next
week. He thought she may have been on the pred to long.

Sometimes being on pred too long will cause the adrenal glands to shut down and the body no longer makes its own glutacortoriods. She may require a very small amount of daily pred over her lifetime (similar to an Addison's dog) IF her adrenals don't regenerate. Let's pray that her adrenals will function again.
