More hurricane victims...

I thought this story was just so sad. I had no idea that here in Florida, family pets are being euthanized due to the over-crowding from the hurricanes. If I didn't have 4 dogs already, I would adopt one or two. Just SO sad.....

It is sad........however, I'd never go anywhere without the Minkies.....even if it meant I'd have to weather the worst with them..we stick together. It's too awful that hardly any got reclaimed.

That is just heart breaking. Like you Lynda I would never go any where without Maggie & Jake. I would sleep in my car or under a bridge before I ever left them behind.

We feel that way also. We live in a coastal area of NE Florida, in a zone that gets evacuated frequently. We would NEVER leave the girls behind, nor would we ever consider putting them in a shelter.

Yes, very true. There are dogs all over this area needing help, more than before. I know of several terriers in danger in local shelters, all due to three hurricanes in 1 month. Somehow, folks think its only the areas where the storms made landfall but entire state of Florida is overflowing with animals in shelters, either dumped or found as strays. My current cairn foster for Cairn Rescue League was found as a stray after Charley and had to get OUT asap as more dogs coming in! He's young, so you would think he was safe but he was not. It is heartbreaking. I'd be like Lynda, sink or swim we would stick together.

Well our furkids ARE family - and family sticks together. Family members are not expendable.

I second everything that has been said. I cannot imagine ever leaving my boys behind. In a situation like that they are poor helpless wee ones who have no idea why their loved ones have left them behind. I feel sorry for the animals that are endlessly searching and hoping for their families to turn up.
