Tiny Dancer, Dancing at the Bridge Vote for this post

From her foster mom....
It is with a great deal of pain that I write this final chapter in a very brief life. Today I held a very small precious baby as she passed from this earth to a much, much better place. I held her like a baby and rocked and kissed her till she fell asleep in my arms. Tiny Dancer spent only 8 months here and of those few months, most were in pain and confusion. She wanted too much to be a real cairn but her abused body and mind would just not permit it.

One of my favorite stories is The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. It is a story of a stuffed rabbit that wants so much to become “real”. In that story the rabbit receives this advice from his nursery room pal, the skin horse. “When a child/person loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real”.

Well, we really never got a chance to love her for a long, long time but that was not our fault, but that of some cruel monster who chose to mistreat her.

I sincerely hope that she knew about all the people from Colonel Potter and elsewhere who said a prayer for her and wanted her to have that chance to become “real”. I cried for her today but I know that these were tears of joy because now with this final gift, she can run and play, and hop and dance and do whatever her very “real” cairn body tells her to do.

I am sure that she will have so many dance partners waiting for her.

Oh, no...I am so sorry. Bless her little heart. We will light a candle for her tonight. It will be very bright in our room tonight. I always light a candle for my sweet Maggie, and now Toto and Tiny Dancer. Dance on...little one and run free.

Hugs,

I am so, so sorry. Reminds me of my little Melita, whose leg had been broken twice. Her owner called me and said - I was giving her a bath, and I think her leg broke. Sure enough, and the xrays showed an old break that had started to heal. Although her injuries could be repaired, and she got her chance to be real. Is there any chance that the monster who did this to Tiny Dancer can be prosecuted?

So sorry to hear this sad news, I've just read the post below. Why it surprises me to read these stories I wonder, some people are just sadistic. Thank goodness she crossed the bridge in loving arms. RIP Dancer.

While I am always very sad about some of the rescue cases that we hear about, I don't usually cry, but always get very angry at the abusers of these innocents. However, today I am sat here with the tears streaming and wishing that God grant me the good fortune for my path to come in contact with the evil SOB who did this to this little baby. The one consolation is that she is now in the one place where she will never feel pain and can truly be herself, a bright little spirit, free to run and dance and laugh and love. Blessings to Tiny Dancer.

Love, Lynne
