WHEATEN SCOTTIE -- UPSTATE NY Vote for this post

Just thought I'd post this here, too, from our local "My Shopper" newspaper (like a Pennysaver.)

Free to good home, Scottish Terrier Wheaton, great with kids, good family dog, 4 years old. Call anytime 518-872-0708.

(I believe the location is in a town called "West Berne, NY")

I have called this number and left a message on their answering machine but no response yet. If someone officially in rescue wants to take this one and run with it --- please feel free! I haven't done rescue work and I'm afraid I might mess it up but please keep me informed, if you can. I'll do what I can from here to help.

There are indeed whaten Scotties!
from the AKC website:
Black, wheaten or brindle of any color. Many black and brindle dogs have sprinklings of white or silver hairs in their coats which are normal and not to be penalized. White can be allowed only on the chest and chin and that to a slight extent only.

Cheryl:

If you get a chance to leave a message you should let them know they should NOT say "free" - they don't know who might answer that ad - it could be people who would take the dog & sell it to a testing lab or use it as a "bait" dog for dog fighting - they often try to get fiesty terriers for that. Anyone who has to re-home their dog should ALWAYS ask for money even it's just $50 or so. That way, it winnows out the scum and dangerous people. Any dog they love is SURELY worth that much to them and the knowledge that they are giving that dog to a good forever home is worth it too. Thanks for letting me vent - Free To A Good Home ads ALWAYS scare me to death for the sake of the dog!
