2 Jack Russells in IL need help! Vote for this post

A good friend of ours has fallen on bad times and has been trying to place her 2 male Jack Russell Terriers in new homes. She works full time, goes to nursing school full time and is now also doing practicals for her schooling and the dogs are not getting the time/attention they need and deserve. She has tried to find new homes for them for 3 months but no luck. She took them to the local no kill shelter in Decatur, IL-Homeward Bound on Wed., 3/8/06. Neither dog does good with cats or kids. Quin has agility, obedience and go to ground titles with the Jack Russell Club of America. Bernie has been trained in agility and obedience but has no titles yet. Can anyone help these two little Jack boys??? Here is the information for the no kill shelter they are at:
Homeward Bound Pet Shelter
1720 Huston Drive
Decatur, IL 62526
Phone: (217) 876-1266
Fax: (217) 876-1604

Bernie is listed on petfinders under the shelter and there is another JRT listed but his name is Jack. I am not for sure if this is Quin's listing and they changed his name or what.
Westie Rescue of Missouri has been trying to help place these two also but not had any luck. Bernie is actually a dog that WRM got 3 years ago and my friend fostered him when no one from JRT rescue came to get him and my friend ended up keeping him.
My friend is very upset over all this but feels it is in the best interest of Quin and Bernie to find new homes since she doesn't have the time to be with them anymore due to work, school and practicals. She has shed many tears over this decision and it was very hard for her to take them to the no kill shelter on Wed. and leave them there.

Is it a no-kill shelter?

I looked it up on Petfinder. It is a no-kill shelter. They should put some pictures up of the pups. I hope they find good homes.

Wouldn't it be better if she kept them until new homes can be found? It seems to me they'd be better off with her rather than being in a shelter.

And why won't WRM take Bernie back?

She has been trying to find homes for them for 3 months, since December. WRM is working on rehoming Bernie. The shelter said 2 people are interested in Bernie so I think he will be adopted. I guess Quin has bitten someone in the shelter and they think he is a fear biter. I think he is just freaked out about being there and not with PJ. I don't know if little Quin will be placed or not due to the fear biting issue they think he has now.

Hopefully they'll take his reason for biting into consideration. Are they keeping them together for now or have they been parted ? I hope not...

I guess because they're a Westie Rescue and no doubt rehomed him as a favour ?

Just an update on these two. Bernie has two people interested in him. Quin is being transported to WI so I think these two guys are going to be ok.

Boy, what a day and 1/2 little Quin, the JRT has had. He got loose from the Homeward Bound shelter Friday afternoon and they called his Mom and she went looking for him but no luck. I was talking to her this morning on via cell phone and she had been out looking for him for 2 hours and hadn't seen him. While on the phone with me, she spotted him! I hung up. She called me back and she had him. He was just sitting by a fence and she saw him out of the corner of her eye while talking to me! She had him to lay down and she pulled him under the fence. It was at some trucking co. After all this, she has decided she is gonna keep Quin. I told her it must be meant to be that she keep him since she found him after he was loose for 16 plus hours!

Sounds like it's meant to be, especially as he was the one with issues too. Hope she can spend a bit more time with him. If not, perhaps she can employ a walker or sitter for him ?
