Getting to Know You! Vote for this post

This is something we do once in a while and thought you might enjoy it. Since we've had some new members join us, let's introduce ourselves!

Us: We are Cheryl (Mom) and Trip (Dad) and Roo (ME!) and Holly (my C-A-T) and we live in rural upstate NY. My girlfriend is Keslie who lives in Pennsylvania with her Mom, Deb. Although we've never met face-to-face, I know we are soul mates!

Mom has been a member here for about 13 years (yes, that is true), starting with my brother Reggie and now me. I was rescued from a shelter in 2002 and lived with my foster Mom, Georgia, in Little Rock, Arkansas for a few weeks until Mom flew down to Nashville and Auntie Georgia drove from Little Rock to Nashville to meet up at the airport so I could come home on the airplane and rule the ROOst here!

I love my life -- my Mom and Dad and even the cat and my hu-brother Chris and his wife, Jill and especially our "grandboy" Silas, who lights up our life!

Mom works as the office manager at a local church and wants to  retire but she's gotta put in three more years -- maybe not there, but SOMEWHERE! Dad is retiring next summer -- on Mom's birthday. I have no plans to retire, but I AM getting older and slowing down a bit.

Wee have been lucky enough to meet a bunch of TC friends in person. We have hosted two great Terrier events here at our house (and would love to do another!) and Mom has been lucky enough to hang out with and stay with two TC members (one in NYC) and one in Atlanta and totally enjoyed THAT experience!

Needless to say, we are diehard TC fans -- we love our TC friends -- they are more like family!

Next?

Wow Nimby Sue, our moms are the same age except till Monday when mom turns 56.

We are Kelsey, age 11 westie, Kelsey came from former tc members when mom lived in Buffalo, NY. We moved to North Carolina in 2001 with Kelsey.

Shelby is 6 and a westie too. When mom saw her she fell in love. Shelby was born in 2006 and lived with Kelsey and our corgi brother Furby who
Assed away in 2009. We miss him a lot.

Abby found us in 2010 and will be 3 in November. She is a Cairn terrier and the most vocal one in the house.

Our mom is 55 and will 56 on Monday. She is a teacher and teaches in Greensboro, NC for 10 years now. She taught in Asheboro,NC for 2 years.

Our mom is Mary and she taught in a Catholic school near Buffalo for 19 years. She always wanted to teach in the public school system so that is why she moved. She has a brother back in NYS. Both her parents are gone.

We ave been on tc for a lot of years, mom started with her angel Westie Zoey in 2000.
We have met a few members here and love it, if you pass through North Carolina we'd love to see you.

Kelsey has slowed down a bit, losing some her sight and that bothers Mom some. Hard to watch them grow old.

Mom hopes to retire one day, as much as she lobes kids, the educational system is not what it used to be.

I'm Zoe the Westie and I just turned 5 years, old and I have a Cairn Terrier brother named Tucker who will be 6 next month.  My Mommy & Daddy got me from a nice breeder lady in Arkansas when I was 8.5 weeks old.  Mommy says I'm her "healing angel" because I helped heal her broken heart when her Yorkie-boy suddenly left for the Rainbow Bridge.  She also calls me her "little sunshine".

We adopted Tucker from Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network when I was 1 year old because I needed a playmate.  Tucker is a puppy mill survivor and we helped him to get over some of his fears.  He's still afraid of loud noises like thunder and fireworks, but we love him anyway.

We have a hu-Sissy who is 28 and will be getting married next year.  We'll be so sad when she leave us :(    And, we also have a hu-brother who is 25 and he still lives with us too.  I LOVE my Bubba!

Our Mommy works part-time for an insurance agency and our Daddy sells industrial batteries and chargers -- whatever that is.  Mommy wishes she could retire but she's only 52 so we guess that won't be for a while.  Mommy and Daddy are Officers and Directors for Westie Rescue of Tennessee.  Mommy works hard every day finding and saving Westies in need.  They are always bringing home Westies that stay with us for a day or two or maybe even a couple of months until their furever families find them.  Mommy says Rescue is a full-time job and told her boss she really needs to quit so she can spend all her time on Rescue.  Problem is it doesn't pay money, just Westies kisses and tail wags, but Mommy says that's worth a lot!

We live just outside a place called Memphis where some famous guy named Elvis lived.   Mommy and Daddy love the Smoky Mountains and have taken us there.   We love to go on walks, visit the park and go shopping at the local pet stores.  We get to go to the Franklin/Spring Hill area a few times a year to visit our Mommy and Daddy's Rescue friends.  Taking trips is fun!!  Once we even got to stay in a hotel!

Well, I guess that's about it.  Now you know all about us.  We love our Terrier Club friends and have had so much fun since we found them here.

Love,

Princess Zoe Hope

This is a good idea once in awhile so we can get to know the new members better.

We are the Oregon Girlies, we live with our mom in a place we call Girlieville, because we are all girls. Here we have a big fenced yard that is all ours, we let our mom plant a few things just to keep her happy. We love to raid the vegetable garden for green beans and new potatoes.

We have been members here since late 1999. Daisy was just a pup a little over a year old when we found this club, now she is 14, Still as bossy as ever, she is a IMHA survivor, has Diabetes, and Arthritis. Doesn't hear or see well, but she has that Westie spirit in abundance. She makes the rules around here.

Then there's Sissy, she joined the TC when she was a mere six weeks old. She is Daisy's true sister. We call her our snuggle bunny, because she likes to cuddle. Sissy also has Diabetes, loves hedgehogs, she has a big collection of them, but loves only one. Sissy is 12.

Our rescue girl is BeeGee for Beautiful Girl, because she is. We call her our good girl because she lets us do anything to her without a fuss.  She has a beauriful soul, and is happy just being BeeGee. She loves to steal the other Girlies toys, she takes them in her crate, and guards them there, she is such a tease. BeeGee is around Sissy's age.

We couldn't post this without mentioning our little Woogie, Shasta, she was with us such a short time. she died from a horrible cancer called Hemangioscaroma. We miss her.

Over the years we have had two cats, Suzette, our crabby old lady cat..She really ruled the roost, but don't tell Daisy. Huckle our chasing cat..we stopped chasing him when he got older, (Mom made us stop). They have both gone to the bridge.

We are older now, and have slowed down, we don't post as much as we used to, but we still visit every day. We love reading what the younguns are up to..Some of them remind us of us back then. We still enjoy life, but instead of frolicing in the sun we like to lay in it. We can still give any cat that dares come into Girlieville a good chase. That's it about us, if you want to see more we do have an album here.

My Mom (retired and spends her days taking care of us!!!) has been a member for ages!!!.....Once there was a Westie, Ms. Taffy that only held her heart, but she got her Angle wings, and along came me to share it.....a Westie, named Millie.  I'm 9 years old now.  Not long after came Bonnie, a Scottie girl that is also now 9 years old.  We took in a foster boys years back, named Brodie.....he has lots of mental and physical problems, and never left..he's 13+ years old.  Then we again took in foster for a rescue group.......She's a Black/Tan Coonhound girl, and never found the right home, so Mom said........Oh well....what's one more!!  We do all get along, and spend our days chasing squirrels in the backyard!!  Oh...almost forgot.....our hu-brother is staying with us for awhile and his dog came too....her name is Daisy.  She's from Montana, 8 years old and a big Rhodesian Ridgeback.

My name is Matthew and I'm a Westie.  I'm about 5 or 6 years old.  I'm a rescue so no one knows for sure how old I am and I'm not telling.  I grew up in the Minneapolis area but moved to South Dakota in April when my new Mom Charleen adopted me shortly after her beloved Chester died.  I had been picked up as a stray when my other family adopted me and I lived with them for three years until they lost their jobs and then lost their home due to foreclosure and had to give me up.  It was a really sad time for all of us.  So, that's how I ended up in SD.  In addition to me and Mom our family includes Paco a Chihuahua adopted from our local shelter, and Annie a sweet Toy Poodle who thinks she's a princess.  This past Monday was just a year since she was released from a horrible puppy mill.  Our family doesn't have a Daddy and Mom's happy about that!

I probably have the oldest Mom of anyone here.  Or one of the oldest.  She worked at our hospital in various departments for 50 years, the last 30 years in Purchasing.  Last November she was forced into retirement, something she didn't want and was not ready for.  But she says you don't always get to make the decision as to when to retire.  Sometimes it's made for you, whatever that means.  Paco, Annie and I love having a stay at home Mom!

Mom and Chester had been members here for about six years and I got to join right after Mom adopted me.

Hi everyone!  We're half of the OK Westie Club.  I'll tell you about me,(Tuffy )& Kaylee and let Dad tell you about Bailey & Shayla. I (Tuffy) am 5 years old now, my how times does fly by!!  I was born in an ice storm and all my siblings passed away.  Only me & my Mom survived.  Rescue took us in and almost lost me a few times, but I hung there with my terriertude and earned the name "Tuffy". I'm a vocal girl, love to sing and aroo and am a very good dancer, dancing around my favorite treats before I'll eat them.  I also like my personal space. Don't invade it or you'll get a terrible sounding growl, a girl needs some of her own room every now and then!   I had a luxating patella and had surgery a few years ago, although you'd never know it now. I run around and am very fast!

Kaylee is also 5 or 6, we're not sure as we adopted her from rescue 3 years ago and were told she was 2 or 3.  She came from a Puppy Mill and they were threatening to shoot her as none of her litters survived.  Kaylee is Daddy's girl-she has him wrapped tight around her little paw.  All she has to do is walk up to him look up with her big brown eyes adoringly and like magic, she gets picked up and given belly rubs and cuddles!   Even when Dad is in bed and she comes strolling in, all she has to do is stand by Dad's side of the bed and he can "feel" her looking at him and sure enough, there she is-waiting to be picked up!!  We're glad that she has made herself at home here, although she and Shayla both think they're alpha girls sometimes and Mom & Dad have to intervene.  For the most part we all get along just fine.

Mom and Dad work with Oklahoma Westie Resuce and it seems we always have an extra dog around.  Just when we get them the way we like them,  "POOF"  they all disappear.  We hear they've gone to their "furever" homes, whatever that is!  Dad has been on this site for at least 7 years now as he found it right after the family adopted their first westie Bailey.  He's the only boy in a house full of girls.  Mom and Dad stay very busy and don't have much time to get on here like they used to.   They're more involved with Westie Rescue as they're event coordinators for the Oklahoma City area now and they also play those infernal bagpipes!!!  We've gotten used to them for the most part, but my gosh-those things are LOUD.  Apparently they take a lot of practicing as they take Mom & Dad away frequently for practice and gigs.  They seem happy though, so it's okay with us.  Mom works for an insurance agent and Dad works for the FAA.  I think that brings you up to date on half of us.  Stay tuned for the rest!

My name is Katy and I am an only child.  Mommy and Daddy got me for mommy's golden birthday about 6 years ago.  I was a baby when I came to them,  I like Tuffy had knee surgery for a luxating patella about 3 years ago and you would never know it either.  I love to chase my ball and play!  I like to go for walks to as long as they aren't in my own neighborhood!  I have seen and smelled it all around there :)

I love Sam's Yam's Sweet potato Treats...they are my FAVORITE!  I will do anything for one of those things.  Lately I have been waking mommy up in the middle of the night for one.  She thinks I have to go outside, so she wakes up and tries to get me out of bed, but I walk to the pillows and lay back down.  She knows that means I am hungry and she gets me a treat...I have mommy trained really well.  I would never do that to Daddy...he loves me but I don't think he would be too pleased with me if I did that to him.

I have been a member here about 4 years - Mommy is pretty busy with work, she teaches little kids all about music...Daddy doesn't know much about 'puters so it is all up to me and mom.  Daddy is a musician with the MN Opera Orchestra so that keeps him pretty busy and keeps me in the treats:)

Happy Friday!

Hi everyone, my name is Caesar.  I was adopted by my Mama after her sweet Casper crossed the bridge.  I was 2 1/2 years old them.  It was very scary time for me because my first family left me at a shelter in Indiana that was overcrowded.  That shelter sent me all the way up north to the Wisconsin Humane Society in Milwaukee.  They were nice to me there and got me all ready to be adopted.  Then they called my foster Mom Gail who fostered for Tiny Paws Little Dog Rescue and she came and got me and took me home.  Then guess what my Mama and Daddy came to meet me and next thing I knew I was in my forever home in Grayslake Illinois.  I have the best home ever now.  Lots of good tweets, vermin to chase in a big back yard, and a wonderful tree to climb. I'm the famous tree climbing Westie of Illinois you know!  After my first Scottie brother crossed the rainbow bridge at 16 1/2 yrs. old, my Mama and I adopted Murphy from St. Louis Scottie Rescue.  His mother could no longer take care of him so we adopted him.  We are brothers now and love to chase vermin and sing together.  Murphy is the famous Singing Scottie of Illinois!  Our Mama calls us the Black & White Singers!  Life is good now and we really love our friends at the Terrier Club.  Caesar

Hi everyone - my name is Layla and I just turned two on Sept. 14, 2012.  Mummy and Daddy has a previous Westie who passed away in July 2010 and just couldn't live without a puppy in the house.  Mom did lots of research and would have loved to have another Westie but was worried it would remind her too much of her lost Molly.  So....after searching for a good breeder of Cairns, she found one.  The first time she came to see us I was 10 days old and I charmed my way into her heart with my sweet face.  Unfortunately, they had to wait till I was almost 10 weeks old but they came to see us every two weeks.  Once I arrived on the scene and being an only doggie, I decided that this was the place for me.  I have lots of toys to play with and doggie treats and am treated like the princess I am.

Both Mummy and Daddy are retired.  Mummy is originally from Montreal, Canada and met my Dad and moved to Maine.  I love having them home with me as they are always talking or playing with me.  In fact, I also like my naps and let them know not to bother with me as a girl needs her beauty sleep.  Most of all I like to nap in front of the wood burning stove in winter.

Mummy joined TC just after she got me as I was a wild child and she needed help in how to "deal" with me.....imagine that - wild child indeed!!!

Hi all! My name is Kimberley and my babies are Finlay (9) and Bug (1 1/2). Finlay was our 3rd Westie and Bug is our 5th. Bug is a rescue, as were Jasper and Cedric and Duncan, who left us far too soon. Finlay is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle and hang out in the shop with Daddy (Ken) and hu-brother (Brandon). He LOVES his "giggle-baby" toy that was sent to jasper from his girlfriend Nimby Sue. It laughs like a little girl and entertains him all day... Bug is a wild imp! He is full of energy and keeps us all laughing! He loves to snuggle and play and goes berzerk when his hu-brother and sister (kaitlyn) come to visit him! He loves his toys and scatters them thru-out the house but his favorites are empty water bottles. He loves the sound of them crinkling under his little teeth! I work as a Property manager for apartments and commercial buildings. Daddy is a Building Engineer for our local hospital. Daddy also has a home shop where he does suspension work on dirt bikes and the boys love to work with him. Finlay even has his own "mechanics" jacket so he doesn't get dirty. We have a good life thanks to these boys!
