shoulder lump Vote for this post

I was giving Roxy a nice back scratch yesterday when I found a lump just at her right shoulder. Now, of course, today, when I want to get her in to see the vet during his morning office hours, it is snowing and so I am not sure if I can drive the pass over to his office. I will go as soon as the weather clears but in the meantime do you think it can be a possible reaction to a pencillin shot that she had a good 6 weeks ago now? It seems an awfully long time ago and I feel sure that I would have noticed the lump before now if that was it but...well you begin to doubt yourself. This is a lump probably an inch or more in diameter (25 mm +) so not a small thing. No pain involved. Firm, not watery.

Iceland is not agreeing with Roxy. This is the third thing that has come up in about 2 months. The other two being a fungus under her belly that made her very itchy (almost totally gone) and then her very first bout of anal sac problems (and I was away so a friend dealt with it!)

Some dogs do have lumps that last a very long time after their injections. I had a Yorkie that had this problem. I wouldn't worry, just get it checked when you can.

My Sparky has had a lump on her shoulder like you describe-a hard one-for years and it's never grown.

I did manage to get into the vet after all. The road was actually good and as a bonus the reindeer were right beside the road today, but I digress.

The vet wasn't sure what it was but he said that it isn't quite in the spot where he gives injections. He suggested that he could try giving her a shot of steriod into the lump but we decided to just wait for a month instead (I am out to Canada for Christmas and Roxy will be with friends) and then we will check back. I think that she has had enough shots for awhile.

I agree with Lynda, wait and see, and I hope it is nothing but a fat tumor.

Where about in Canada are you going for Christmas? I hope you have snow, as it doesn't look like we will here in Ontario. I hope you have given your friends a written authorization just in case Roxy needs the vet while you are gone.

Have a Happy Christmas,
hugs, Theo and Casey xox

Weezie gets an occasional fatty lump, I rub it every day and it goes away. Hope that it's the same for Roxy!

I hope Roxy's lump disappears before you have to have it removed. Mulli has had several removed and so did our Kali Rose. They were all just wierd stuff, not cancerous...

Karen, I've been wondering about Roxi's lump... is it still there and is there any news on it yet?

Hope you had a great holiday,
