Ouchie, my Mister Beasley goes outside and gets rough. Whenever he spends alot of time playing outdoors he gets one foot (in particular) that gets a bit bloody. Nothing seems to be in it though. I had his last summer and the doctor thought maybe he got a splinter in his foot but did not. And he is not limping but he IS licking it. And does not like me to touch it. But I did and washed it and because he is white it is hard to see beyond the red hair now. But all seems to look ok. What do you do? I put some animed on him which is a animal anitbiotic but wonder what you do if your dog Or does your Westie/Cairn get bloody paws at all? HELP!

Do you walk him regularly on harder ground so that his pads are tough ? It sounds like they're too soft....people here from the States use something called Bag Balm for their feet.

Hi,thanks for answering my question. He goes outside and plays in the yard. If he is outside too long sometimes he gets a cut or irritation between his toes in the soft tissue area. He chases the squirrels and he runs around on the cement area of the yard also. I went out and got some saline and I used the last of the animax from my vet.But he does this pretty often. Wonder if he would tolerate booties. Thanks for the suggestion.

Try the other stuff first. It's made for horses, I believe.

It's for cows' udders -- hence "bag" balm!

Wonder if Bag Balm would help heal his pads? Might not hurt to try. I think you get it at a drug store...
