Frontline? Vote for this post

What flea prevention products do you use for your dogs? I had purchased Bio Spot and was just told by a fellow dog-lover that there are many articles on the web stating the dangers of this product. So my question is, what about products like FrontLine and Advantage? I tried FrontLine last month on Brodie and two weeks later, she had a flea in her coat. She is allergic to fleas, so I'm wondering...is there a safer and more effective product than Bio Spot, which I will no longer use?

We use frontline and have never had any problems. The different brands use different ingredients. I have to be careful because Heidi had a nasty reaction to pymetherin (that's probably spelled wrong) and a lot of them contain that.

We just had to switch to Frontline Plus as the regular Frontline didn't work any longer. I asked the vet about it and he said they can build up an immunity to it just like anything and sometimes you have to switch around to see what works the best. The frontline plus seems to be working now.

What did you hear about bio-spot? I used to use frontline plus but switched to bio-spot about 2 years ago.

If you google "Biospot adverse reactions" you can read about it. Basically, it can cause seizures. I'm afraid to use it again, so will try FrontLine Plus.

I use Revolution - It's Booker's Heartworm prevention as well as it's used for flea prevention, and the prevention and control of ear mites, sarcoptic mange, and American dog ticks. I have found this product to work just great for Booker.

Our little Frank had a horrible reaction, and I think it was biospot that I used but I really can't remember. He had the shakes and was very sick. I went back to Frontline Plus and have never dared try anything else since.

Well, we use Advantix on Angel. I like that it works on Fleas, Ticks (including deer ticks) and Mosquitoes and it repels and kills them. It is also waterproof.

There is currently a free tube offer at:

Bio spot is all I have ever used and have had no problems with it I used it because it killed everything. With 4 puppers it was a heck of alot cheaper.

We used Frontline Plus for years with great success. This year has been a total nightmare. The fleas are immune to it. We thought we just got a bad batch and tried Frontline Top Spot next. That didn't work either. So, you wait a month each time and deal with the fleas the best you can. Finally, we tried Advantage and that works. We learned our lesson. We will rotate products from now on so it doesn't happen again.

We have used the Frontline regular for many years and have never had any problems. I have heard some really bad stories about the BioSpot and would stay away from it. Pat - Zip & Joey & Sean's Mom

I refuse to put anything on the Minkies...the warnings about washing your hands afterwards or not inhaling it puts me off !! But their coats are so short I can spot a flea should they pick one up right away. I just run a fleacomb through them if I see one.
