What is this? Vote for this post

My dog has these all over her back? Does anyone know what it is? They're not fleas. They look like scabs. I'm worried something is wrong with her. I have no money for the vet at the moment, and was wondering if I should be concerned. Thanks!

Here is a picture of her back.

Do they look like soft warts, I can't tell by the picture.
My Tillie has something like this on her back only not close together. The vet is removing them after Christmas because Tillie keep rubbing her back and the vet said if she ripped one off it would really bleed.

They do look like scabs. Wonder if she got into something (ant hill maybe?) and was bitten?

I would give her a bath with some mild soap so you could get a better look at them and see just how many they are.

Then I would check with the vet for a solution.

Love Riley

I got the picture but then it would not show me again to get a second look, not sure ..are they raised or flat?..could it be a bit of dermatitis or something.I only have had Cairns and for last 2 years Andrew a Westie but no skin issues..he only has some small round dark skin pigmentations on his body,I do not bath mine very often as I think it removes the natural oils....well apart from when they have rolled in fox poo of course!!LOL...Hope you can find some answers and someone else may be able to advise better here. wonder if Theo may know and look in at post.....Let us know how Maisey is doing and if you find out anything...Hugs and kisses Annie and Gang xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I did some research. I think it may be an allergy to something, and this is the aftermath of pyoderma. She has them all over her back & tail, and they're in clusters on her back & tail. Nothing on her head, legs, or belly. She's always had itchy skin, so I think she may possibly be irritated by something. More than likely, I think it's something outside, even though she's hardly ever outside. The grass irritates her paws. I'm going to bathe her with some oatmeal shampoo, and hope that helps her. May give her some Benadryl, too.

This is what I used for the skin. Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

I had a rescue with bad skin, I used Malaseb shampoo on him. I even used it on my girls if they started itching. It's not cheap but it worked for my rescues. If you do try it leave it on at least 5 minutes before rinsing it off.

Iver got those when he was young.
I forgot what the vet called them but they can be cleaned up
successfully with a medicated shampoo called Malaseb.
They are absolutely harmless and not the sign of any serious illness.

Iver got these from skin allergies from allergies to cats and fleas
and allergies to potatoes, which was the starch in the food I was feeding him
for years and years. Now for my pets I only trust sweet potatoes.

The Malaseb is an anti-septic that will clean up the "scabs" and the skin in general. I'm sure you can find Malaseb on Amazon or one of the pet supply websites like
1800petmeds, a pretty decent priced pet med supply website.

Has she been groomed lately. Freddy hot hundreds of scabs on his back after a hand strip grooming, happened twice, and cleared up. Susan
