My hand pieced quilt is finished Vote for this post

Not one material is the same and that is called a charm quilt. I wanted to learn how people did it a long time ago by hand. It was very relaxing. Had in mind to quilt it by hand too but was unable to make nice stitches and getting the thread through a tiny needle was a real pain. So I hand it machine quilted by my friend .She also put the binding on because I do not have depth perception and it is a dark purple fabric.  I call the quilt 'Kelly's colors'  because my quilting friend who passed away gave me a lot of the fabrics. Her name was Elisabeth Kelly and that is one way to remember her and Honor her. She was from Georgia and such a wonderful Lady. I sure miss her.my friend.

Thanks you Deb glad you like it. It was hard fo quilt I had already done some in the middle but it took way too long and was not happy with the stitches so my friend said lets machine quilt it. She helped my to take my quilting out that I had done. I have such sweet friends. Am so glad that it is finished all I need to do now is put a label on with the information and sew a strip at leased 4 inches on the top back so it can hang in the quilt show. Hope Elisabeth is watching.. She had the most southern accent ever and was so funny and sweet. We all miss her a lot..She was so loved by all the old quilters.
Love, Yoka ,Moshe & Levi .
Thanks for the compliment Deb

The pyramid  style quilt was quilted in large pyramid's.
Am thinking of entering it in the Jacksonville quilt show in September.
Will be able to go this year no Holidays this year at that time.
Last year I missed the show  because it was our high Holidays .
Missed seeing the quilts and all the new things from the vendors. I also work a few hours every time selling quilts.Hope you like my quilt.

My word, that is an amazing quilt, so beautiful. Unless there are more strips behind the couch, there must be close to or over 1,000 pieces!! It certainly is a wonderful tribute to your friend.

I hope you are able to show it at the quilting fair, I'm sure you'll be bringing home a ribbon.
hugs, Theo

 Thanks Casey.
It has 1048 pieces there is a little more at the top.
It was a joy to learn hand piecing because you can do a little at a time after you know in what order you picked out for each row.
I would stand far away to make sure you could see   the contrast between the pieces. Am so happy it is done and finished.
Our quilt show has 7 quilts and we have amazing quilters members. I am just a beginner compared to them but most use a sewing machine and I like hand work the best but had to give it up because of the loss of my other eye and seeing double sis hard. Have one more month to go for prednison drops and than I finally get my prism lenses. Can't wait for that day.
 Hugs, Back to you.

My mother puttered at hand stitching quilts but by the time she had time to really work on it she had Parkinson’s and little control of her hands. I admire you for giving it a try with your sight such as it is, that takes spunk.

The day you get your new lenses will be a day of celebration, I know you have waited so long to have good eye sight. Then you will really see how truly magnificent your quilt really is.

Hugs, Theo xox

How sad that your Mama has Parkison . Mama's brother has it also he has to use a chair with a lift on it so he can stand up.
I am very stubborn and keep trying to hand quilt I did a evening in a class and did a beautiful pillow but that was years and years ago before my big trouble with my eyes.I also live with 2 kidney diseases and 2 autoimmune disorders.
Life sure can turn upside down . I tell everyone travel when you are young and do not wait till you get older .I take one day at a time .
Living with a husband who has Bipolar & dementia is also very hard. Am coping the best I can .Am sure your Mama is doing the same.

 Love,Moshe,Levi and Yoka

Thank you for the lovely comments about my Mom, but she passed away 20 years ago - my word, how that time has flown.  Sorry to hear your brother has it, it's such a frustrating thing to live with.

You have so much to deal with Yoka, I don't know how you manage to keep so upbeat.

hugs to you, Richard and the boys, Theo

Am so sorry Theo to read that you lost your wife so long ago. Life is not easy sometimes and lately it seems it does not stop it is one thing after after another. I learned a long time ago to take one day at a time. When I came down with Hyperthyroidism and sever Graves disease I would go to the bathroom and have a good cry once in a while.
Than I tell myself there are others suffering more than I do. Specially children and baby's.They are just starting our life and I find it heart breaking. I try to keep busy that helps and without Moshe & Levi I could not have done it. I guess faith also helps .

Hugs back to you too.

We are so happy to hear that you like our quilt that our Mama made. She is in a large quilting guilt and there is soooooo much talent . Mama just wish she was able to have more time to make more. She has many that need to be finished but if she starts on a new one it is going to be one with Cairns & Westies.
Love from your friends, Moshe,Levi and Yoka

How lucky your Mom is to have quilts that her mother made. I had never seen a quilt before till I came to the USA. My mom was fantastic  at flower arraniging and a terrific  at sewing.I remember I had a beautiful llight blue blazer and she made a coat out of it when it was old for our daughter with beautiful trim.  It was a beautiful will never forget it she turned the blue wool material inside out and it was like new.
Treasure those quilts. My grandmother was a knitter.
I never saw her relaxing she was always knitting for the family and she came down with MS.Life does throw you curves sometimes.
