Trying to get through it
The cards have been wonderful. Each day when one comes I gather the girls in my lap and open and read the cards to them. Christmas was always wonderful but each day is getting harder for me without my mate of 50 years. Two years ago today our daughter was married here in our home with 60 guests. Her father was so proud of her. Even tho she and I are so close she was her daddy's girl. If I can make it till Christmas the girls and I are packing up the SUV and heading to Florida without any schedule but with cane and bad knee. I am late getting our cards out but I will get it done with joy.

Re: Trying to get through it
Ruth, I know exactly what you're feeling. It has been 21/2 years since my husband died. Holidays are the worst. Somehow you do get through it all. The wonderful cards do help, I love going to the mailbox, and showing them to the Girlies. I tell them who they're from, and they look at me as if to say, yes Mom we know. We'll be thinking of you and your family throughout the holiday season Ruth. xxxxBetty and the Girlies...

Re: Trying to get through it
Ruth and Betty, the Holidays are hard on us who lost loved ones. But somehow, it is still a time of hope and at least for me, waiting for a tiny miracle. The cards do help.
Love,
Marie

Re: Trying to get through it
Ruth and Betty, it must be hard for you around the holidays. Please remember you are not alone and your lost loved ones aren't really lost at all, close your eyes and they are right there with you, in your heart and memories.

I understand Ruth. I remember watching my Dad go through this 6 years ago. Now we have to do it, so I can also understand your daughter's feelings. I'm am glad you have each other.

Re: Trying to get through it
oh goodness, I am so sorry for your loss. I will be thinking of you and your family.
Last Decemeber 24th we lost my husband's Dad during surgery. It has been very hard on the family especially my husband because they had become very close. He was only 63 when he passed. This x-mas will be very hard.
