Picking up our rescue Dixie Vote for this post

We're driving up to North Augusta Saturday morning to FINALLY pick up Dixie, my rescue Westie that came from a Missouri puppy mill. She's weaned her pups, been spayed and is ready for her forever home! I'm so excited, and the three months wait for her has kept me anxious. Now I'm looking for advice from the rest of you on how to make the transition comfortable for both her and Dundee. My husband's still so worried that Dundee is going to be insanely jealous of any other dog competing for my attention.

Since so many of you have two or more LWD's, do you have any tips for me on how to make this easy for both dogs? We need to remember, too, that since Dixie was cooped up for 3 years in a puppy mill, she hasn't had all those early years of play and freedom like other dogs. Dundee has met Dixie briefly, and they both seemed okay with each other, but it was just a brief time together. Now this time it's for real! We want Dixie to feel comfortable and loved, but also don't want to short change Dundee in any way.

Any advice will be most appreciated.
