MEET & GREET Vote for this post

For newer members, this is something we do every once in a while and it has proven to be a lot of fun!

We just meet here, tell a little about ourselves and, if desired, post a picture so folks can connect a face with the name!

I will start!

Hi -- my name is Roo (a.k.a. RUFUS, Dr. Roo, and a dozen other nicknames)!

I was born in Arkansas (I think) but now, because I am a very lucky rescue boy, I live in upstate NY in a rural area where there are lots of things to sniff and do!

My Mom and Dad are Cheryl & Trip. Mom is a semi-retuired educator and Dad is still plugging away at his job as the quality manager for a plastics thermoforming company.

I am six years old and I have a sister (and she's a C-A-T named HOLLY. And she is six years old too and not overly impressed to have a D-O-G for a brother!))

I am one of the silliest & freshest guys you'd ever want to meet but Mom and Dad love me anyway.

I am currently the un-official "therapist" for TC members -- known here as Dr. Roo. (I am also a profesional pilot and a few other things -- I believe in keeping busy!)

Anyway, it's nice to meet you.

And as Dr. Roo (a.k.a. ME) would say -------- next?

When this starts to get too long -- as we hope it WILL (!!!) -- someone please break off the thread and start MEET & GREET Part 2, OK? That way it won't take too long to load . . . . !

Re: MEET & GREET Vote for this post Reply to this Message

Hello!
My name is Elliot and in 3 more months I'll be 6 years old. I came to live with my Mom (Kay) when I was 3 months old then had to go live with friend of hers for a couple years when the Grandkids came to live with Mom. She got to visit me often. I've been back with my Mom for almost a year now and am so happy to be home again. Just the 2 of us live in McMinnville Oregon right now but are planning another move as soon as we can sell our house. I have terrible allergies living here so Mom is going to find a better climate for me to live in.

I love playing ball and getting my tummy rubbed. Mom and I go many places together. My favorite place to go is to doggie parks or regular parks that I can explore. The beach is fun too!

Mom has worked for years as a machine operator in many plants/mills but is giving considerable thought to office work or maybe even a hotdog or espresso stand. Getting too old for the hard physical labor! I'm hoping for the hotdog stand so I can get some really good treats occasionally!!!!!

That's it for me. We're waiting to meet others on here. NEXT???

Elliot

Auntie Kay, maybe you should think about moving here. Daddy is a quality manager at a plastics company -- maybe we can find you something to do here -- even if it's not machining!

And i would love to be neighbors with my bud, Elliot!!!

Love,

Roo

Re: MEET & GREET Vote for this post Reply to this Message

Howdy! I'm Enzo, and I'm just a liddle over eight months old. I came to live with my mommie in February. She had another westie named Carbo who got real sick and died in December just after I was borned.

She was really sad, and it's my job to keep her from being sad anymores. I'm good at my job.

We live in Galveston, which is an eye-land near Houston, Texas. The air smells salty and fishy and I love to walk on the beach and check out stuff.

My mommie says I'm something called a "smart aleck" but that's good because it means I'm smart.

I love priddy girls and playing chase.

Re: MEET & GREET Vote for this post Reply to this Message

Hi,

We are Kayla, the Cairn and Annie, the Westie. Our Mom is Mary Ann. And we have CAT for a brother. We do NOT always like him. We live in Viginia, in a not any longer little town called Bristow. I, Kayla, went to live with Mom when I was 10 weeks old. I was, and still am, quite the little terror - hehehe. My list of "accomplishments", if you will, is quite long. When I was 1 year old, Mom added the CAT - I still do not like him and never will, but allow him to hang in the basement. I was 3 1/2 when Annie came to stay with us, she's a rescue.

Enough from you Kayla, let me have my turn. I, Annie, started life with a backyard breeder and had a couple of litters of puppies. When I was 4, they decided to give me to rescue. Well, long story short, my foster Mom could not part with me (I'm very good with that angelic look). I told her I was staying. It's been 4 years now and I love my forever home.

We both help Mom with rescuing. She's been at it for about 5 years. We teach the rescues all of our "tricks of the trade". Mom says we need to talk about what and what not to show them. But, being terriers, we KNOW best and don't bother to consult Mom.

Since we live in Virgina, we have lots of places to walk and hike. And, we make friends everywhere we go. Everyone says we are sooooo cute and friendly and innocent. Mom says they don't know us very well. hehehehe

We've been in the club for around 6 years. We love it, although Mom is not always able to be on all the time. She has to work so we can have our biscuits and treats and toys. I guess we can make the sacrifice of her going off as long as we get our goodies. And, she has kindly arranged for a dog walker to visit us so it's not tooooo bad.

Well, our dog walker is here so we'd better get that excited, we've not been out for years look ready so she will take pity on us. hehehehe

Kayla and Annie, (PS, Mom is at work but taking a little break)

Re: MEET & GREET Vote for this post Reply to this Message

We are Dundee and Dixie Belle, and we live in a SC coastal town called Bluffton. Life with a LWD started for our Moms with me, Dundee, as Mom's birthday present two and a half years ago when I was just a pup. I grew up to be a very well behaved and loving LWD, if perhaps a little too fixated with Moms!! It got so bad that she couldn't leave the house without me going into a sulk and hiding under the bed or under her vanity table for hours and hours until she returned. Our human Dad flies airplanes and is gone all the time, so I became Moms constant companion!

This year Moms decided I needed another playmate and companion, so I wouldn't be so unhappy when Moms couldn't be with me. Moms though about getting me a puppy, but then decided that an older LWD would appreciate a good home more because they are harder to place. She decided that a puppy mill rescue dog would be the most deserving of a nice home and a good brother, so she searched and searched until she found my "sister", Dixie Belle, who came from a Missouri puppy mill. My little sister is actually two years older than me and she's been my best friend ever since Moms adopted her in May.

I've had a lot of fun with her, teaching her how to play with toys and do dog stuff! She's needed lots and lots of education because she lived in a cage all her life and she didn't even know how to play! I've had to teach her how to play tug-of-war and "play fight", and Moms says that I've been a very patient and brotherly instructor. Now Dixie even initiates play fight sessions when she feels frisky, so I know I've done a good job teaching her the terrier way to do things. Dixie Belle already has a boyfriend at TC, named Bailey Kanoa, and I'm still looking for the right girl, sigh.....

Oh, our people's names are Heidi and Bob. In the picture, Dixie's Belle's sitting and I'm in my favorite dignified, reclining pose on the left.

The Oregon Girlies...

Re: MEET & GREET Vote for this post Reply to this Message

We are the Oregon Girlies, three Westie girls We live with our mom Betty in Girlieville, a suburb of the town of Aurora, OR. Our brother and his two kiddies live with us. We have a cat we call That Darn Cat, but his real name is Huckle. Hes a big ole orange pest.
Let us tell you about ourselves.

Daisy...Just turned nine years old. She is the leader of this pack, she rules with an iron paw. About three months ago Daisy was diagnosed with a very serious blood disorder called AIHA. Although she is doing well we still worry about her a lot. Her illness has not diminished her ability to keep her sisters in line though.
Daisy has always been our mischief maker. She loves playing with her ball. She has quite a collection as she is not a toy destroyer.
Daisy's hobbies include, Helping in the yard and garden, digging and eating grubs, rolling on worms, in fact she has taught many classes on this subject.
She is an amazing girl.

Our Sissy, our middle girl, is a plump, pretty, little bundle of love, cuddles, and charm. She adores hedgehogs, and treats. She excels at getting garden goodies for herself and her sisters.
She is Daisy's real sister only two years younger, she will soon be seven. She too loves to dig and eat grubs, and roll on worms. She also loves to zoom, and wrestle with her adopted sister BeeGee.
She is kind of a momma's girl, which makes our mom very happy.

BeeGee, our adopted Girlie. A gentle loving girl. She will be six in Feb...we think.
The day we brought Beege home, she came right in and was home. It's like she was always ours.
BeeGee isn't really into toys, but will take her sister's toys and keep them in her crate just to tease her sisters. She does love her Red Dog though, a gift from her Beach Boy, Rocky.
BeeGee has eyes that can see to the very bottom of your soul. Our mom has a hard time denying her anything she wants.
Beege has a hunting trail that she follows many times a day, and has become very good at catching mice.

Well that's a little about us. We could go on for chapters, but mom say's enough already.
We know we are very lucky to have each other, and to live where we live, but most of all to be members of this wonderful club, and to have so many friends.

I few in an airplane to Jacksonville Florida it was love at first sight. We live in Ponte Vedra Beach ,Florida and I am so terrible smart and such a good boy everyone loves me . When they see me they all wished to have one just like me.I do bark ,wimper whan I hear thunder and hear firecrackers go off and when I see animals on TV but other wise I am a the bestest boy. I will turn on October 16 six years old. Papa is retired and Mama works part time as a teacher in a synagogue school. She is also co president of the sisterhood there and sits in a lot of committees . She is very busy now and goes to board meetings but I am waiting for the weather to cool down so she takes me to the beach again. I love the beach that is my favorite place.
I have a little brother Levi who just turned 2 years old in July. He is scared of everything but bold in other things. He is just like a garbage can. All he thinks about is eating. We do play nice together and I am glad he is my brother. I get jealous of home sometimes because they baby him too much. My favorite toy is a ball.
Levi plays with many toys as long as it makes noise he loves it. Levi is very quiet he is real laid back does not bark at thunder , fire crackers or even the TV.They got him when he was 19 month old. He was a stud and his first owner kept two of his daughter to breed so she did not want him any more. He was the scariest dog you every saw but now is socializing real good and he has the nerve to take the toys right out of my mouth and bones. He scares himself sometimes. He makes us laugh.Mom don't like his beard stains I don't have that. We are going to the groomers Thursday and he sells something for beard stains. We hope it will work.
Have a great day!!!!!!!

Hi- I'm Mlle Emma. I live with my mom, Geri, in NYC. Mom says I live a luxurious life- well, I do admit I am a little spoiled. But that's because my mom works alot and she feels guilty. I do have a dog walker and one of my mom's neighbors comes to feed and walk me when mom works late during tax season (like now).

I am a therapy dog and right now am visiting a nursing home. The patients love me.

I am also an aspiring model. I have an agent but so far haven't had my big break.

I am a very mellow westie- I never bark or go crazy and hardly ever zoom. Even when I go to the dog park, I like to sit and observe- preferably on someone's lap .

Here I am with my handbag collection. We NYC girls have to be chic, you know.

XXX Emma

We are Mac & Shayla, two westies.
Mac - I was adopted by Doug when he came and saw me at an animal shelter in Oregon a few years back. I am real mellow and enjoy everything, especially food.
Shayla - I came and joined Doug, Val and Mac via Fran about two years ago. I am still experiencing the wonders of being free to roam and enjoy life to the fulliest.
We live part of the year with our Mom up at our little place on the coast of Oregon and the rest of the year we are down in California. We have the best of two worlds.
Thanks for reading a little bit of our life.

This is a great idea, especially for us newbees. My name is Cody and my mom's name is Paulette. I was born in Arkansas and flew all the way to Sacramento where mom picked me up and drove me to my forever home in Reno, Nevada (The Biggest Little City in the World). I'm almost 8 months old. I love to chase balls, birds and anything that moves. I've just started agility training, which I really love, and I'm pretty darn good at it (if I must say so myself). Mom's an executive assistant for a big company in Reno. Mom hadn't had a dog in over 20 years, so she says it's quite a challenger to raise her first Westie, but she says she loves every minute of it!

Hello,

We are the East Coast Westies 3, Lily, Sir William & Boomer (in order of arrival). We live in New Jersey with our Mom, Linda & Dad, Allen. We bought Lily from a breeder in Florida and flew with her up to New Jersey where we live. She was our pride & joy. Then when Lily was 1 we saw Sir William in a pet store. He was 5 months old and after coming home crying to Allen, we went back and bought him. He is truly a sweetheart! We started doing rescue and our first foster was Boomer 3 years old. He had been abused and we immediately fell in love with him and promptly failed fostering 101. He has become such a well adjusted, lovable little boy. They are now Lily almost 4, Sir William just turned 3 and Boomer who is 5. In the photo below are Sir William, Lily & Boomer.

My name is Thistle, I live in Ontario Canada with my Mom and Dad, Dave and Cathy, I have a sort of second home, with my human sister Adrienne, I like to stay with her when Mom and Dad are away, they travel a lot with her job. Mom owns a travel agency and Dad is an electrician.
I am 4 years old and totally spoilt.
I love people and pups, love to hunt any critters in sight.
I like to guard the office during the day for Mom, I have been going to work with her since I was 8 weeks old.
Life is good I must say. My only complaint is that Mom likes to come up with ideas for dressing me up in hats etc, that I just don't go for. It is something I tolerate cos she likes it.
I love to play with a ball, and love stuffed toys, I keep them for years. Mom says I am a very good girl.
