Re: continued Reunion
I don't think we would be considered long tem members, having joined in 2005. I found this site as I was doing research on whether a westie was for me. I found Cooper in a pet store, almost lost him to some one else and then he was all mine!!! The advice I got here was invaluable!!!! Getting Cooper from a pet store led me a few years later to rescuing Caesar from a puppy mill.
I mostly lurk but I am here at least once a day to see how everyone is and what is going on. LOVE THE TC!!!!

Re: continued Reunion
hello all, i am another one who doesn't post much but i have to check on my doggies as i call them every day. we got mattie in 2002 and joined shortly thereafter. at that time we also had myrt- a terrier mix that we adopted from the spca. she went to the bridge in 2005 and we got zena who was a retired breeding westie a few mon ths later, very sadly she totally unexpectedly went ot the bridge in feb. of this year. i was devastated, she was absolutely the most wonderful dog i had ever known to that point, the sweetest , most gentle soul i have ever encountered. in june of this year we rescued toby - a 4 year old cairn- from potomac cairn rescue. he is proving to be guite a unique fella- we already love him dearly and are entertained by him daily. as someone else posted i will never forget FGM's ordeal and i printed off all of her entries, and also had a dear friend who sadly lost her battle last year, but i fofund much inspiration from FGM's stories to get me thru my friends ordeal and i put them away for safe keeping to draw strength from if needed again. i so enjoy this place and look forward everyday to keeping up with all the puppers- thanks for being here- l,m,t

Re: continued Reunion
We joined in 2005 too but I was new to the internet and too afraid to post so we lurked for years. I'm so glad that we finally got brave enough to join in. I was so intimidated--everyone seemed to know everybody else and I was the "new kid on the block". I count myself so fortunate to have made so many friends here--I know that in the coming months I'm going to need support from you all. It's so nice to know that there's somewhere I can go where the people love their furbabies and understand what I'm gping through.

Re: continued Reunion
Thanks for doing this, Fran. Altho, Emma and I have been members for many years, we have been quite remiss in posting in recent months. I guess life just gets in the way. My beautiful Emma will be 12 in February- hard to believe all this time has passed. She is as sweet and lovely as ever, altho a little slower (aren't we all!). As for me, I "retired" from my firm in August altho am working part-time at a much smaller accounting firm. Have to keep Emma's purse supply going!!. It is so nice to hear from everyone. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Hello, all....(copied from our post on 12/4/2010)
Just checking back after our early post (November).... Happy to see so many members checking in, but I still feel we are missing some old friends.
We've been members for a long time, first with MacKenzie, then with Skyler Maxx (now at the Bridge) and now with MacKenzie and Tobey Maguire.... We check often to see how everyone is doing, and we often learn something new about our terriers. MacKenzie and Tobey Maguire are doing pretty well...MacKenzie is 12, almost 13 years, and has lost her hearing... but she still enjoy good food, shorter walks, and lots of hugs, ear-scrunchies, and rides in the car. Tobey Maguire is doing so much better now with his horrific allergies and skin conditions, he gets allergy serum shots weekly and still takes other medications and baths, but he is so much more comfortable with good growth of his hair again....... thanks so much to the Veterinary Dermatology Doc-ters!!!! They are phenomenal!! After the last visit, Tobey is "bouncing off the walls," just like he used to do as a pup!! We are so grateful for the support and love we have received here.......and we plan to be members for a long time..even if we are only "lurking" sometimes. Pam MacKenzie's and Tobey Maguire's Mum PS Good to see you Geri and Emma!

Annie
Hi Annie, Just want to say a big thank you for all the pleasure you have given us over the years with your pups adventures. and the photos of the areas you have walkies or motor trips in your beautiful Countryside. Remembering Gremmie & Erics adventures too. Such fortunate puppers to have you and Peter for their hu-parents.
we pray for Ellie in her illness. we also would love seeing the now famous photo of Ellie dressed up and waiting for a ride with her suitcase. and so many others you posted. Bless Ellie and her money making endeavors. I wonder how many of us have started speaking Ellies language since we all met?
We hope Nimby Sue is doing well and watching over her sis Ellie. they seem to know when one needs direction. R little Rose is now blind too but its amazing how well she gets around by staying with the pack. They all watch out for her, but its Rocky who she really wants near her at night.
Please give Lady Emma a soft kiss from her Sir Ralphy.
Love Fran

Re: continued Reunion
Hello Dear Friends!Thank you dear Franny for such a grand idea, I am overwhelmed by all that I can write with so many memories, so let's see, where to begin.......
I know when I first found the Terrier Club, it was the summer that Janie rescued Chip. I had just lost our 16 year old Westie, Mac, and I was looking for some grief therapy. I came across the Terrier Club, and just followed the threads everyday, trying to figure out who was who, and what was going on. It took a while until I was brave enough to post, and since I didn't have a Westie any longer, I didn't know if I would be welcome. I was! After a while, I took on the monogram of FGM, standing for Fairy Godmother, as I self appointed myself to that position, and enjoyed so many adventures with all the doggies that Mark had to establish a new board just for adventures! We had great fun, traveling the world over, parties galore, and some elaborate terrier menus for all our friends. I also remember contests with Shiels, she would decide on the competition, and often my kids at school would vote on a winner, and then Shiels would make awards to mail to the winners. The longest tongue competition comes to mind...remember those?
Then one day my life changed, when I found out my dear friend Mary's son had leukemia. I knew him since birth, and was the first to hold him when he came home from the hospital. His struggle was long and painful, and I watched an entire family struggle and fight and pray for happier days. It was then that this wonderful group stepped up and became the largest and kindest support group I have ever witnessed. One day John said why don't we send Andrew some cards, and it never ended. Cards, baseball caps, letters, Christmas presents, and donations came from all over the world. It has now been 6 years since Andrew lost his most courageous battle, but his family has never forgotten any of you, even on his final journey, he was buried with a cap from Peggy, and a stuffed westie from Kay. Cheryl and dollface both wrote tributes that we copied and passed out at his funeral, along with a picture of Laddie looking out the window as if on a final journey.
Little did I know then, that exactly a year later, I would be diagnosed with advanced stages of head and neck cancer, and once again, I came here for support. You took me under your wings and like angels, carried me through the worst battle I could imagine. I started journaling my life under the adventure forum, calling it To the Mattresses, taken from the movie the Godfather. Just reading some of your kind comments todayl made me tear up. I had a former student, who is still battling brain cancer, who I told in conversation, that I was always looking for the lesson in my cancer. She told me she thought the lesson wasn't mine, but I was to teach the lesson to others. I recovered from that nasty cancer, and returned once more to school, only to be knocked down with breast cancer the following. That was a piece of cake in comparision. We had rescued a cute little Cairn, Rags, prior to my cancer, and she became me little nurse. We lost her several years back, and although Fred said no more dogs, we now have a puppy mill rescue, Simon (Cowell) who now rules the roost! Without too many details, Fred was burned badly in an electrical fire 2 years ago, and you know how that rescue business goes, we may have given Simon a new home, but he really rescued Fred when he needed a new purpose in his life! Funny how that works, isn't it? Now, I could go on and on, but I will close for now. Sparkle kisses FGM

Re: continued Reunion
This board has done many special things, like for Andrew (I know tears were flowing around the world) and Cindy's little Alexis and of course the writings FGM did. FGM, you are missed as are the many others but we know how busy the days are. I am not on as much as I'd like and sometimes, it's just hard to get involved mentally because it's draining when something happens. But TC is always a daily visit.
I hope FGF is okay. Send him our best. I have my little cairn wallet sitting on my bookshelf along with a few other cherished items so I see it every day. Lots of good memories indeed.

Re: continued Reunion
Hi Kelly, I know I don't post much, but I always check. It occurred to me once that I had become the Queen of Sadness, and that some people felt this was a website for the doggies, and not personal issues. It is hard to be so involved with people and not share your life, but perhaps I had too much to share! The good news, is this June I will be retiring from teaching, and I think there will be more time, although some that have retired are surprised at how quickly the time flies!!!! FGM

Re: continued Reunion
Oh, I think it is very important to share our lives Barb. Just so hard sometimes. Like with poor Daisy having passed today...it just bothers me so much. You'd think after all the tears I shed for Nana that I'd have none left but yup, I do! I sometimes feel bad not responding when people are sick or such, especially after all the support I had with Nana, it's just I have to pick and choose I guess.
And yes, my parents were fortunate to retire young and are much busier than I am! Always on the go, but that's good, keeps you nice and active!

Re: continued Reunion
Hi Nan & LC. Glad you stopped by. Mackie had such a good few years with you. thank you for adopting him. He was in the best home possible. We love you Macadoodle.
Yes, of course we remember the traveling bunny suit. what fun and laughs we all had. Cathy & Thistle always went the extra mile to bring us great live Adventures. now our Terriers pretended to not like wearing them for a photo, but deep down, they really liked the attention and making us laugh. after all thats what Terriers do best..entertain us.
We think of Cathy & Thistle often. Hope they will come by for a chat and update.
Hope Lambchop and you R doing okay up here on that mountain.
Hugs Fran/Rs
