I just got home a bit ago. I was at Ikea in new haven with my neighbor when bob called me to tell me what happened. Youwill see it on the National news and it's on the major news outlests right now. I figured some of you would put 2+2 together and realize this is where we live.  He was right behind the plant in the tree farm with the dog when the blast happened. Jill (walking pal) was in the woods with her 2 dogs. My stepson was in church across the river and he felt the blast. Nothing happened to my house but stepson's moms family had their homes almost ruined (theylive less than a half mile on our street closer to the plant). Too much traffic to go up the hill to look and way to cold to walk up there. Gracie has been barking for hours. Helicopters, National Guard, Homeland Security... it's freaking wild. I have a friend that works there but he was off today. I got lots of phone calls while at Ikea. Nice to know I'm loved. And they promised this plant was safe..... geesh. They know it was not a terrorist attack.

We have been watching the updates here in Missouri.
As far as realizing that is where you live--I have a hard time remembering where everyone on TC lives.  I don't think anyone means to slight anyone on these kind of matters.   I'm sorry if you feel that way.
My heart goes out to all those touched in any way, shape or form by this horrible, devastating disaster.

I far from expct everyone to even remotely remember but not everyone is on Facebook and I am friendly with a bunch here on the TC. I'm not sure how I gave that impression and if I did I'm sorry.

I haven't been watching TV today so I didn't know about it.  Goodness, I'm glad everyone is okay.   Glad to hear it wasn't terrorists too.

I heard there had been an explosion, but didn't get all the details.  I'll have to turn on CNN.  So glad you are ok and we will pray for everyone.

I read about it on Google this afternoon and immediately thought of you, wondering how far you live from there.  That would be scarey as heck,  for Gracie too.  Yes, it's nice to know you are loved. I'm glad your home is okay.

My mom was watching the CNN news story about it. My parents have a beach house about a half hour from there in Westbrook. I knew you live near my parents and wondered if you lived near the explosion. Glad you are all safe. Gracie, you need to stop barking now before you drive mom and dad nuts.

Westbrook is nice. Gracie is better now that they made the area a no fly zone. I have no idea what those choppers thought they would see!

I did see that on the news - - they said that at five had been killed and several injured and that it sounded like a sonic boom as it blew out all of the walls.....must have really been something for everyone to have reported that they could feel it - one man interviewed said he thought a tree had fallenon his house.  What a tragedy....sorry for those who lost their lives and am glad you friend was off today.

When Bob came home last night he told me what he saw... he was adjacent to the plant and he saw a plume of white smoke that went to black and then flames that shot in the sky. He said it was worse than the guns on the ship in the navy... Gracie yelped and ran away... and he was almost knocked over. Thank goodness he wasn't because he's still be lying in that field. My poor pup never slept yesterday till we went to bed. All she did was lie and stare at the front door. She always sleeps in the evening. Every time she went out she barked nonstop. She did eat and play with a new ball so I'm sure she's okay. She did sleep sound with us all night. One of my friends from work brother was up there working. Luckily he was laying pipe down the road. My other friends that took the day off from work to watch the Superbowl are duly upset... What a tragedy.

Wow.  I saw it on the news this morning.  (I was too busy excavating my car and enough square footage for the dogs to potty after the snow to see the news yesterday).

I sure am glad you at least and your home are ok, and your family is safe.  It must have been so very scary.

Ellen, glad everyone in your family is safe. I bet your friend is thanking his lucky stars he was not a work...WOW! When I heard the news, I thought to myself that I have heard of that town...but didn't put two and two together.....

I'm so glad you are OK.  I can't imagine how scary it was for your husband and neighbors and of course poor little Gracie too. 

The company I work for supplied some of the structural steel for the project, so I am familiar with it.  What a shame...  your community is in our prayers.

Boy, i bet you never thought you'd have that kind of excitment in your neighborhood especially while you were shopping!  

 I did see it on AOL - and because I lived in Massachusetts before - seeing Connecticut peaked my interest.
