how we are sorting Stig and Andrew out Vote for this post

Andrew as you may know will not tolerate cats...at any cost...just wants to  kill I reckon...Stig will not stand calmly she just takes flight so I have several soft houses etc in the outbuildings where she can get into, also a barn full of hay at the back of us  for next doors horses so thats warm also...she loves to be in at night so I have her in here and its so Andrew will get used to seeing her and knowing she is part of us..he can see her and she him but she has her soft igloo house within the crate and I can also fold the red fleece down over the sides if need to..she gets fed  her meat in a crate on the worktop in kitchen but also has crunchies in bowls in outhouses and her treats also...its only been 2 weeks and at least he is not head butting the crate like he first did...I have made him lay down and they can look at each other sometimes he is very good and others he pushes his luck but has to be gently but firmly told...I will see how this is in about a fortnight...slowly slowly I am trying...Stig for the first time tonight now lies outside her igloo also ...but still safe within the crate...she goes out at 5am when Peter leaves for work and is outside all day.....Watch this space...the trouble is Nimby only accepted Stig as she wos a weeny kitty when Ellie found her so got used to her that way over time.....Mind you anything that zooms in front of a terrier!!...I have a job on my hands I feel!!LOL..Annie xxxxxxxxxxx

Annie, I understand Andrew and cats
Sailor does not like cats and chases them when he sees them
Laurie's kitty Milo has stopped coming into the house
Her chihuahua Missy is too rambunctious with Milo
and after a year of putting up with her tackling him
he has decided to stay outside
Laurie set up a crate with a nice blanket
and she feeds Milo outside

Oh I do hope it works out...I know it can be difficult bringing in a new family member when the current residents don't approve.  Hopefully they will get used to each other and settle down.  Even if they aren't best of friends, hopefully they can ignore each other eventually.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Oh Annie, you do have your work cut out for you! Emmie's kitties were already here when we brought her home and she still wants to chase the tommy. Mind you, the females don't put up with her nonsense but he runs so she chases him. I'm hoping he decides to quit running someday and things will settle down, but a full grown terrier who hasn't been around cats--that is another issue all together. We are praying you can sort things out--if anyone can, it is you!

Sounds like they are slowly getting used to one another. My 3 (now 2) have never lived with a cat but when we see them while out and about they take very little notice of them but it may be different if one came in the house and ran across the floor in front of them.

Good luck.

It will take a little time but hopefully Stig and Andrew will learn to tolerate each other.  Love Louise, Caesar and Murphy

Oh Annie I sure hope they will learn to tolerate each other. You are doing all you can and we hope it will work out for you. When I feed the cat from next door Moshe barks sometimes he is jealous. Levi loves Cats he wants to play with them and makes talking noises when he sees a cat. The cat next door used to run but now let's them smell her. Hope Andrew in time will do that too. We know you are doing all you can do. Hugs and Love, Yoka, Moshe and Levi

Stig looks so sweet all cuddly safe in her soft house. I do hope that Andrew and Stig soon will be getting along. My three terriers were hopeless with a cat...their prey drive was a problem for any cats just crossing our yard.
