I could use some advice please. Vote for this post

You all know that Levi's blood work could not be any better but his BM's are very soft even with extra fiber in his food with a little cheese over it.

It has been going on now for a while  now and another thing in the morning he is often a little damp on one side  by his back right leg. I checked everything over and he did not urinate on the quilt he lays on. He does not have it every day bit did have it several days in the week. I find it very strange. Hope a good bath & short haircut will help but I wonder what it is?

Can Dogs leak?

I never had a Dog do that. Should  I buy something for him and what is it called and what size? As you can tell I never had to use it before with any of our dogs.

Maybe I need to send Charleen a email she knows a lot about it.

In any case I think I should bring the vet some poop from Levi and have him check it out. This has been going on for weeks.

I finally am finished with the Taxes for the CPA. It took me over 3 days. Hope to get a appointment this week.

Richard needs more surgery on the 24th.

Please keep him in your prayers please ?

 Have a great day.

Love to all,

 Yoka,Moshe and Levi

Yoka if any of my Puppers have ever been a bit loose at the poopy end...Nimble had a spell when she picked something up once and ate it...I have always given her plain boiled white rice with her food and a bit of boiled white chicken breast...just a little chicken though...even tonight her and Andrew have had a bit of rice with their meat and kibble ..it suits their tummies...as for the wet patches ...yes Dogs can leak as they get older just like humans,Emma had a few incidents whilst sleeping on the bed at night so I got a rubber sheet to put under her own blankie  but the vet did give me some liquid drops for her food called Urylin...The only other incident I ever had was my old Cairn Eric who used to have the odd seizure  and this can cause them to urinate  a little also but I would ask your vet what he thinks before maybe buying anything to give Levi...will look for updates and hope this info helps a little...we also send Positive thoughts and Prayers for Richard and the surgery...I forgot to add I do not give mine any cheese really...they used to get a little but I feel as they age like us they can sometimes not tolerate certain foods once that they could have done when younger...Hugs to you all Annie and Gang xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you so much for the advice for Levi and I will cook him some rice and chicken breast. I know he loves it.

About the dampness by his leg if he leaked I would find some wet spots but did not see it or feel it. It is so strange maybe it was too hot upstairs and he was hot. Both Moshe and Levi need to be groomed again with a nice short haircut.

Will call the vet and ask him I might scoop some of his poop in a little medicine bottle and bring it over to be checked. Levi always had great firm stools. I keep a eye on both Moshe and Levi when walking.

Thanks Annie for the reply and the prayers for Richard.

Love, Yoka, Moshe and Levi

Could it be incontinence (I didn't know till I looked it up that it wasn't just a girl thing)? I know with Kelsi I could never feel any dampness in her bed (but that was made harder as she would sleep in many places) but I noticed a damp patch on the floor and on the deck and her back leg was also damp. Once Kelsi went on medication (stilbesterol) the dampness stopped.

I rescued a female cockerpoo from a very abusive home quite a few years ago. She leaked bad and no medicine worked so she wore pants with a pad in it to absorbe.
Her name was Cassie Cola Rock and Rolla!!!!!
She went to the bridge a long time ago but I still think of her.

Yoka maybe the cheese is the problem. Westies have such a sensitive digestive system.

I wish I could stop that cheese but Levi will not eat if it does not have a little pinches of Parmesan cheese over it.He would like some grated cheddar cheese better the low fat kind but I only give that to him on Saturdays. Levi has not had it again . I changed to cotton sheets . This morning he also had nice firm stools I was going to call the vet. Cooked some basmati rice last night. Moshe loves it but Levi would not eat it. I cooked it in vegetable birth. Will buy some chicken breast if he needs it. Hope his stools stay firm it is a mess to pick it up.will cut down on the cheese and make it less and less so that he only eats kibble after that.
Have a great week.

Hi Yoka!
Have you tried some pumpkin for little Levi?  That really helps firm things up - also with the leaking.  Is the dampness clear?  Does it have an odor?

Yoka, Molly leaked a fair bit in her old age too. There was a medicine she was on (Proin) that helped some.

I like the idea of having a stool sample checked. At least that can help rule out a bunch of things.

I hope Richard's surgery goes well too. Good luck to all of you!!

Yoka,
My Buffy started the leaking  (she is 13) only when she sleeps no other accidents.  My vet gave her proin.  I give her only half of what the vet said because I hate putting all that meds in her  but half works great and she has not had any more wet spots when she sleeps.  I kind of upset her that she was wet when she woke up  she never has accidents..
