Getting worried about Nimble now Vote for this post

I took Nimble back to the vets this morning First thing and I managed to pick her up and get her into the car fine without her hurting her back...The vet said she was a lot brighter which she was albeit shaky as she does not like being there..he said to continue on her steroids and Pardale tabs and keep her calm from jumping onto things etc and lead walks only..I went to work then till 1pm and came home she was fine then back to work till 4.30 and she was Jolly and mooching in the garden and had her dinner fine...Peter came home and I said Andrew may like to go for a wee walk so Peter took him,I followed really slow just on the drive with Nimby but she wanted to come back home...just about 20 yds...which is not unusual as sometimes she does not like an evening walk now...she was fine and lay on kitchen floor while I cooked dinner,Peter and I ate ours  but all Nimby did was lay on floor still shaking again..we managed to coax her outside as thought she felt sick but after a while of her just sitting on grass it got cooler so I tried to pick her up slowly.....same problem ...she cried out again,we managed to get a firm blanket under her and we carried her inside...another vet call and the vet rang me back..this is now at 8.30pm..I have to  keep her in her crate and see how she is tomorrow....she must stay calm..he says her back is going into spasms...I am so worried now as thought she was getting a bit better...everything seems to have gone wrong since she had the Cough and The XRay showed Bronchitis and on Prednicare...I have read so many bad things about Prednisone,I know Eric was on them though for his tumour,I asked the vet if she may need an XRay but he said it would be MRI and expensive and that there may not be much that could be done apart from the meds she is on...having said that if Nimby no better tomorrow am he will get her in again and change a med!...she is not shaking now at moment and a little brighter but that could change again...I wish I knew what was going on,she will have to sleep in the crate downstairs tonight next to Stig in hers,I have slept on the floor with her this weekend  so as no stairs  or steps to climb but will sleep in a bed tonight as I have been awake a lot  with thinking and worrying about her...so need a soft mattress...will give another update tomorrow,Please could you say a little healing prayer for wee NimbySue ,Hugs  Annie Gang xxxxxxxxxxx

Could she have a pinched nerve? Are there any chiropractors in your area that could try to help her out? Katy sees one every 6 weeks and it has helped her so much. Thoughts and prayers for your little girl.

Oh Annie, I was so hoping that Nimby would be on the mend by now. I know how worried you are--it's horrible when they are hurting and you don't know exactly what to do. I've had back spasms that came and went whenever they felt like it. I'd go months without them and then....
I'm no fan of Prednisone, Kelsie was on it off and on and I finally told the vet to put her on something else. All she did was eat and pee...I wonder if accupuncture could help her? We had a vet that was very good at it, but he moved away and left us high and dry. We'll look for an update tomorrow. Give her a wee hug and kiss from Emmie and me. I hope you can get some sleep tonight--sleeping on the floor isn't good for your back either. Tell Nimby she's in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

I'm so sorry she is not better.  It sounds like she has hurt her back somehow to me. Have they done an xray to check on her spine.  I hope you find out something soon.  I am keeping her in my thoughts and prayers.

Love Rebecca and Connor

As someone else mentioned maybe her back goes into spasm. Poor little lass, hope she feels a little better now. It's so hard when they are sick or in pain and we don't know what to do for them.

Annie,

We're thinking of you and dear Nimby and sending healing wishes your way.

Our first Westie (Cindy) did very well with careful, long term prednisone dosing when she had a serious health issue, but every pup is different. Hope that your vet can get to the bottom of this.

Update Nimby Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

I slept downstairs again with her..the cottage is too small to have her crate in bedroom as she is in the bigger one ,she slept well and Peter has put a sort of ramp outside one of the doors for her,I took her out on lead and the only time she was shaky was before breakfast..I managed to get her pills into her via her food as last night she would not even eat it so no meds and did not want to not force them into her, other option would have been to get to vets and meds by injections...anyway Peter went to work later this morning and I have to go and back lunchtime again..I am putting her in her crate while away as she could jump onto the chairs, its not an option to put all the armchairs away...I am hoping that keeping her even more calm will ease the pain and if its a pinched nerve...I know how Back problems are...just so worried that this sort of thing will keep happening and why..but taking one day at a time...my next due vet appt in next Monday...Thank you for all your support it really helps me...Hugs Annie and Gang x xxxxxxxxxx

Ahhh crap sweetie, I'm so sorry. :(

I hate not knowing what's wrong too.

Yes it does sound like some sort of back injury and yes those are wicked painful.

I understand why some people hate steroids, but sometimes they are needed. If it's a pinched nerve, you want to get whatever inflammation is in there under control.

You are one of the world's best dog moms so I know you are doing all you can. Please keep us posted about her, I have a special place in my heart for all the kindness you've shown me over the years.

Annie this must be so frustrating for you and Peter..

I hope you get a good nights rest Annie and that Nimby Sue also has a good night. I hate steroids too was on them for 14 month and Moshe has also used them before.

We hope and pray that they soon find out what hurts her back.

Big prayers going up for Nimby Sue and all of you too.

Love, Yoka, Levi and angel Moshe
