Need thoughts and prayers, please Vote for this post

Please send good thoughts for my Roo. Vet appointment today. He has been having some serious mobility problems. In the morning, he can barely walk. By afternoon, although stiff, he's getting around almost normally. I don't want him to suffer and I'm hoping his doc will be able to help. His 15th birthday is next month and all his life he's been healthy and happy, until now. We would appreciate a little prayer for my little guy. Thank you.

Oh Cheryl, prayers coming for Roo! Hope it's just a bit of arthritis (suffering from a little of that myself!) and that the vet can put him on something to help with the soreness.

I give Sir William Cosequin. He use to limp when he was lying down for a while. He has been fine now and it did help him. Maybe you should try some for him.

Sending healing prayers your way!!!!

Love Sir William ^--^ and Allen

ROO UPDATE Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

UPDATE ON ROO:
We just back from vet and are cautiously optimistic. After a really good appointment with our favorite vet, Dr. Kevin Baldwin, what we think we are looking at is a recurrence of Lyme Disease. I never in a million years would have thought of that. He had it several years ago and, apparently, it can come back, even without a fresh tick bite. It always lies there, dormant, but can come back again. We are actually hoping and praying that this is it. He'll be on doxycycline for a week. As Dr. B explained it is not only an antibiotic but also an anti-inflammatory drug.

The last time we went thru this with it, the doxy worked very fast. We will be reporting back to his doctor next Thursday.

I am so relieved. I asked Trip to come with me and he could hear VERY PLAINLY that Roo is NOT on his way out, and Dr. B. said "he's not nearly ready. I will let you know when that time comes."

So, a big thank you to our marvelous and caring vet, who has treated Roo since he arrived here as a rescue 14 years ago. I trust him implicitly.

Thank you for all of your concern, thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement. It means a LOT!

Oh Cheryl best news possible about dear Roo.
He's not on his way out, he's got lots of years in him. Hooray.
It is wonderful to find a good vet you trust that does an excellent job.
I lost my vet this year, she moved away from the area and now
I have to either return to Sailor's old vet 20 miles away that I also trust
or be willing to try a new vet at our clinic here.
We just know that Roo will get over that awful lyme disease.

Last night on the news, it was reported that vets are diagnosing 1 new case of Lyme (in dogs) every day here in PA. Hubby has had it for 3 years now and my boss at the paper has had it twice. Darn ticks are just the worst. Hope the antibiotics kick it out of Roo real quick and he's back to normal very soon!

MINI UPDATE Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

It appears that the little stinker spit out his pill last night and I didn't discover it until I saw it in his bed this morning. This morning he snapped at Trip and spit it out again. I finally cut up a chunk of cucumber, cut a slit in it and hid the pill inside.

Looks like I might have foiled him this time. We were wondering why he wasn't a whole lot better this morning and now we know. He has never resisted medicine before -- he would eat it right out of my hand, but I guess he decided to be difficult. Next pill is going into a small piece of banana because he gloms that right down.

Oh the little stinker.
Sailor is that way, too.
I have to bury his pills deep inside a bit of cheese
small enough he'll swallow it without chewing it and finding the pill.

Sure glad you found that pill Cheryl.

Moshe only gave me a hard time at THE end taking pills.
For how long does Roo have to take medication for THE flair up of THE lyme disease?????
