I went to the Rainbow Bridge 7/13/16 Vote for this post

Charley here. Do you remember me?
I wanted to let you all know that I went to the Rainbow Bridge earlier this month. Mommy misses me, but before I passed away, she asked me to send her another doggie that can use my toys, bed, bowls... And to snuggle on her lap.

We know there is Colonol Potter Cairn Terrier rescue & possibly Westie rescues as well. Please let us know if there is somedoggie that needs a forever home. Or if you can direct us to some of your favorite rescues. Mommy has a lot of terrier experience.

Mommy currently has one 2.5-year-old Maltese (also a rescue). She weighs 10.5 pounds.

Forgot to mention, we live in St. Charles, Missouri... So any rescues near there would be appreciated.

Yes Charley we know you and have often looked at your picture. Fly free at the bridge, and it is wonderful of you to help your Mommy find a companion to cuddle.
Love to you,
Freddy

Teresa, we're so sorry for your loss and hope that Charley leads you to another rescue in need of a forever home. I'm sure you'll find some excellent help here on TC. Run free Charley, I'm sure you were welcomed with open arms at RB by all the TC Angels.
Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

I remember Charley. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was quite a looker. Cairn Rescue USA has some pups who need homes, as does Col. Potter. Hope Charley sends the perfect one your way.

I'm so happy some of you remembered Charley. I have submitted an application to Col. Potter... I hoping to get pre-approved, and then find the dog. I will do what I need to do to let them know I have a good home for my next dog

Teresa I'm so sorry Charley had to go to the Rainbow Bridge.
I know that all the TC pups that have gone before him
were there to greet him.
God bless you all and Charley, too
I know Charley wasn't a Westie but I think this angel pic says it all

Of course I remember you Charley! I am so sorry for your Mommy that you had to leave her behind but I am sure you feel much better now. Please say hi to Mischief from her family. We miss her very much.

Col. Potter is my favorite rescue but there's also Cairn Rescue USA. The two Cairns who played Toto in the "Wiz" last December on TV were from CRUSA. My cousin has a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix). He's very cute and fun. One of his parents is a Maltese but I don't know which one.

Thank you all for being so supportive Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

I want to thank you all, especially for remembering Charley. That means the most to me.

It is so insidious when our dogs age. It is insidious when they require more medication, more care than ever before. More time. I had a no idea until he was gone. I had built my life around his needs. He came first in everything.

All of the sudden there is this huge void. It is the loudest *quiet* I have experienced.

I remember, before Emme or Charley died, posts like this one scared the heck out of me because it hit too close to home that one day I'd lose my dogs. Now it has happened. I'm so glad to have had them in my life at all. I have a lot of good memories that I made with them. I'm grateful they both lived so long, though it wasn't long enough. It never is.

CPCRN Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

I have been in contact with CPCRN, which I learned about through this club. They have been very responsive in keeping me informed of where we are at in the adoption process. It may take a while, but a rescue will eventually be in its new forever home with us! Some may think I'm getting a dog too soon... But the attached poem, which I read years before either of my dogs died, has moved me forward long ago.

Think of it this way you will be offering a rescue dog a loving home what better way to honour Charley. As soon as my Hannah passed I contacted our breeder about a puppy it did take just under 2 months for Izzy to join our family, but she brought so much joy to our home and Maddie, it didn't mean we weren't still grieving the loss of Kelsi and Hannah and still are. Only you know when it's right for you.

Good luck

We remember you too Charlie and we are so very sorry to hear that you passed on to the rainbow bridge. We hope Moshe and many of the friends you had greeted you when you arrived.

We are so very sorry that your Mommy lost you but we hope she will find someone just as sweet as you was Charlie.

You will live on in your mommies heart forever Charlie.

Wishing your mommy good luck finding a deserving doggie that needs lots loving.

Love, Levi, angel Moshe and Yoka

Often wondered about this.... Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

I have often wondered about my future dogs:
- Have they been born yet?
- Where are they living?
- Are they loved? Abused?
- Did their owner die? Are they in rescue?
- Will the dog show up on my doorstep?
- Are they warm? Cold? Fed? Hungry?
- Where is my dog? Out there somewhere.
- I'm coming... Mommy is coming. I'll help you as soon as I can.

Teresa, I remember Charlie well, he was the one that kept Terrier Town hopping!!  I'm so very sorry for your loss... There are so many of our TC and TT pals there to welcome Charlie, I'm sure there was a huge pawty at the Bridge.

Adopting a foreverhome-less terrier is a wonderful way to honour Charley, and he would want to see you happy. He'll be watching over you and guiding his choice in your direction ;)

All the best, hugs, Theo (and Casey, Lance, Cedric, Sara and Max at RB)
