CPCRN: So far, So good Vote for this post

I put my application in to adopt a CPCRN rescue. My application was accepted, and all of my references checked out. It's a process, as you all likely already know. These things take time... I read that it can take 2-3 weeks.

The home visit is scheduled for this Friday evening.
After that, a decision will be made on whether or not CPCRN approves me for adopting one of their dogs.

If so, I will speak with a "Matchmaker," to make sure I am the right home for the right dog; then speak with the foster of the dog.

I know the right dog is looking for me and is going to find me. They always do!

It's interesting to me the whole process as I've only ever purchased puppies and while we had to meet the breeder and her dogs before being put on a waiting list we never had to do a home visit. Once the pups were born we had to visit twice so the pups would get to know us.

Fingers crossed it doesn't take too long and will look forward to hearing all about your new boy or girl. Good luck!

So happy that things are going along so well! We will keep you in our prayers and will wait for more good news! I've never gone through a rescue group either, but Kelsie's breeder wouldn't let any of her pups go to a home that didn't have a fenced in yard (which we had). When we began searching for another pup (Emmie Sue) one breeder we spoke to wouldn't allow her pups to go to a house that had cats--which we had. I think every situation is different, but when the time's right, the right pup comes along!
Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

Good luck! They have high standards but everything is in place to protect the Cairns. The home visit is to meet you in person, make sure you are who you say you are and to point out any potential problem areas. There are some great Cairns available right now. Are you looking for male or female? What age? I'll have my rescue dog "niece" cross her paws for you and for a Cairn to land in a great home. I am sure Charley will help guide your new pal to you.

Thank you so much for your feedback on the home visit. I find CPCRN to be top notch with their process. I'd recommend them to anyone.

After the home check, I will be notified if I am approved or not approved.

The next phase is to work with a Matchmaker, who helps decide which Cairn would thrive best in my home. I will take the Matchmaker's recommendations of gender & age, based on which dogs are available.

Then I'll speak with the foster. The right dog will adopt me. LOL. I know that is how it really goes, with the dogs being in charge of the final decision.
