McGinnis is getting comfortable with me when we are inside.
He comes to me and lets me pet him and put him on the bed.
But outside it is a different story.
For the past 4 days he has run away from me when I try to
approach him. Today I tried ignoring him and walking around
the yard. He followed me closely but not close enough to
pick him up. My landlady's boyfriend Joe has to go out with me
and chase after him. After about 100 feet of running from Joe
Mcginnis lets Joe pick him up.
I guess when McGinnis runs from me, I give up too easily
and quit following him. I'll start following him and see if he
finally lets me catch him like he lets Joe catch him.
More pictures soon.

Hang in there David, it's early going yet. Patience is the key to gaining his trust and that can't be rushed. Can't wait to see more pictures of him!
Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

He will get there, it takes time and a lot of patience especially when it comes to Westies. Maddie will hide under the table on the decking if she doesn't want to come inside I just ignore her and go inside and she will come in when she's ready. I often carry little treats in my pockets, that seems to attract their attention. Good luck.

I am sure he will come around and let you go to him.

Try some treats. Does he know sit and stay?

Try not to chase him there might be a bad memory with it.

Love Sir William ^--^

I wonder if he has ever been allowed to have freedom David, and be able to be outside on his own in a yard or garden, what does he do if you just try and sit or lay  there maybe just relaxing?I wonder if he would just come to you on his own ..or if you are eating or doing something he is curious about!...Does Sailor go outside with him?...I am sure he will come round  as others have said and all takes time and both sides finding out about each other...Andrew when we got him loved the freedom of a garden and now he comes when called and a good boy...keep us updated....Hugs and kisses Annie and Gang xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

My brother David went over to mow my sisters lawn the other day and said Ryley wouldn't come near him he just barked at him. Ryley wasn't used to men either but I think given time and exposure to my brothers he will come around. When he went into rescue Priscilla's hubby started spending time with him but of course it was only for a short time.

My 2 if they don't want to come inside I just ignore them or eat an apple and they come running or even mention the word treat.
