Levi is still nipping in the calfs of Vote for this post

People. We had a handy man over who has been here 3 x. Today he nipped that guy in the calf. I do not know what to do with Levi he keeps on doing it. For a while he was doing fine and was hoping he would no longer do it. He did the same with a lady when the new air condition was installed. She came with papers that I had to sign. The lady went to her car to get something and when she came back through the door he bit her in the knee. Thank G-D it did not bleed. I was so upset. From now on he will have to stay upstairs behind a screen. We have never had a dog that nipped people for no reason. I wonder why????
It is a mystery for sure I always introduce him and Winter.
Do any of you have a glue???????
Love,Yoka,Levi,Winter and Moshe @RB.

Protecting his territory? Hannah once grabbed the fabric of a handyman's pants and shook it never actually nipped him, but I growled at her and after that always kept her well away from strangers in the house, not that we had many but better safe then sorry.

There is also something called fear biting.
McGinnis has been here with me for 5 months now
and for the last 4 months he has been coming close
and letting me pet him and lift him on the bed.
But the other day as I reached under his tummy
to lift him on the bed he tried to bite me.
He stopped before he closed his teeth on me.
I know McGinnis experienced 6 years of mental
abuse through abandonment and avoidance
so he is still very wary of his surroundings.
So I think that may be what Levi is doing.
Fear biting or Anxiety biting

So sorry that happened and odd Levi is just now starting to nip and not in the past. I like Diana's idea to do a growl sound. I hope others also have some tips to help. Seems Levi might be upset with the extra people in the house.

In our house, it isn't Emmie who attacks strangers--it's one of the cats! We've tried everything, even pheromone therapy. We've had her since she was a kitten, so we know she was never abused...We did use an ultrasonic sound trainer to break Emmie of chasing the cats and it seems to help. I have to wonder why Levi is doing this now. Could he think he has to protect Winter? I hope you can find something to help break him of the habit.

I would keep a leash on him when strangers are around so you can react to it before he can nip.

My Boomer had nipped a couple of times when people were over. I found if I picked him up and said look who came to see you it was the magic thing that worked.

Good luck we never want to see our little ones labeled a biter.

Me THE first day he arrived but it was my fault because he would not come to me after a long trip in THE car and being inside too. I thought it best to take him out for Patty. Big mistake he has teeth like fangs.it was so painful I cried.it became infecties and I even had to get a Tenus shot.. Levi new he did wrong he sat at my feet.
He has nipped several people. Yesterday we put him upstairs and blocked the stairway. He nipped the grand daughter, daughter and a friend. Also a 37 year old guy who was on a scate board. He called 911. When they came The Guy told the people it was our viscous dog that bit him. It was in the calf 1 tiny drop of blood. It was Richards fault he let the lease go.that guy got a lawyer and they sued us..
Both Moshe and Levi hate scate boards. I think it hurts their ears. Levi did pretty good for a while but from now on I will have to put him upstairs. I think it depends on the persons. We had no trouble when they put in our new air condition that day. Go figure it is with certain people only.

Hi Yoka,Did Levi bite other people when Moshe was alive?...I wonder if he is more territorial now  than before, none of ours have ever gone for people....Ellie though a long long time ago snapped at my sisters grand daughter but that's only as she was sat too near to Ellie and fidgety...we have no children here and do not know any as such!....I would keep him on a lead if people come and introduce him to them but then still keep him out of the way so he cannot bite at them....I think locking him away out of sight of them may make him worse Though if he cannot see what they are doing and no harm from them...Hugs Annie and Gang xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Annie he had a period he did not do it but we was always careful when he was loose and people came t the house.
In 2010 when I had my first big orbital decompression surgery and after 6 days came home from Mayo Clinic my friends friend came to bring food to the house. She is a very large woman who walks with big steps. Levi nipped her in the calf. I was shocked he did not draw blood. Even with our daughter Natasha who was ju,pumping to show me how her dog would react Levi nipped her too. Both times he did not nip hard enough to draw blood thank goodness. It seems he does that to protect me. When we are on the beach Levi always stays right by my left side. He would not leave like Moshe who was always investigating l abs sniffing all over the place. Levi was always more attached to me for some reason.
I just wish why he does that nipping at times. I wonder if it is insecurity?
Moshe was more adventurous. As a poppy he ran after two girls and I had a hard time catching him running after him. It was very busy on the beach that day. Hope to find out why Levi does that nipping at times. Weeks can go by that he does not do it. It is very strange.
Love,from all of us,
Yoka xxx
