Finaly's ordeal Vote for this post

We thought we were going to start 2017 by losing our Finlay but thankfully he pulled through...our old man has a litany of medical conditions, the top of which is diabetes and pancreatic insufficiency. Friday and Saturday nights he started having multiple severe seizures. After getting him hospitalized, they determined they were blood sugar related. It took 3 days to get him regulated but he is finaly home and doing better although it definitely took something out him...

it may have caused him a little brain damage. I find him staring into space and not responding to commands as he used to..

we are just happy he's home, rubbing his face into the rugs, playing with his stuffie, growling at his dad and cuddling in bed. life is good for  a little longer...

Bless his little heart...Finley has proven once again that terriers are fighters and I'm so happy that you have him back home and that he's playing and cuddling with you. Every day with our little ones is a gift from God. We will keep Finlay and you in our prayers and hope that you enjoy each other for a long time!
Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

I am glad to hear Finlay rallied! Mishy used to sometimes stare into space and similar behavior. The vet said there was medication for doggie dementia. He put her on something for her seizures that was supposed to help with the dementia. I don't know if it would help Finlay or be compatible with other meds but it might be worth asking the vet. I hope he continues to do well and you have him with you awhile longer. Gentle pets to him!

Thank you Robin. I will ask about that at his appointment tomorrow! We will take all the help we can get as I am afraid we haven't had many seniors..Cedric died at 8 of cancer and Jasper died at 8 of heart disease. With rescues I guess you borrow a lot of trouble you don't know about...

We are so Happy you have your boy home and it must have been such a time for you all,I know from in the past when Eric used to have seizures he would often be just staring into space as though in another world,we send Prayers that once his blood sugar is back to normal he will be more like his old self,Eric also had 3 big seizures when I first got him into the vets but thankfully my old vet rallied him through them...How old is Finlay now?...Please know we are thinking of you and remember how kind and supporting you are when all mine have got sick....Please let us know how Finlay is doing and Big Hugs from us all give him a wee kiss from us ....Hugs Annie and Gang xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Kim, I'm so sorry. I can't imagine how scary that must have been.

Love on your sweet little man and tell him he's a good boy. Soak up as much of his awesomeness as you can while you've got him.

Aww...Kim, I hope your dear Finaly's is recovering well and hope each day he gets to feeling better. It's sad to see our little senior boys not as sharp and active as they once were.
Willie is going to be 18 years old next month. He does a stare off look at times too like your Finaly. Sending gentle hugs to your strong and brave boy.
