o!!possom by the shed last night Vote for this post

I saw one of these on my bedtime walk last night. Mom turned me around. It  was as big as me! Mom said Freddy used to kill them. She did not want me to try it. Sadie

The possums can be feisty but they play dead as a defense. Freddy used to guard them and drag them about,  Mom picked one up with a shovel and moved it out of the yard, in the morning it was gone, so maybe not dead at all.

You got to be very careful with those pesky critters.

Best to stay away and be safe.

Oh my we used to get them possums in our yard in Illinois.  Haven't seen any in Florida yet!  Our Mummy said her first Scottie boy Spencer used to chase them back in his yard in Kentucky.  They would roll up in a ball and he would roll them all around the yard until Mummy made him stop!  Love Caesar, Judah and Angel Murphy

Similar to our brushtail possums here in Australia. We used to live on property that backed onto crown land which was like a forest behind us, could hear them but rarely saw them. They could make a dreadful noise. Frightened me a time or two in the dark.

Diana. I'll have to have Mom look a pic of one of that critter. In the dark here the opossums whiter face showed up.  Have not seen him again as yet but they are around. Sadie

My sister's neighbour knocked on her door one night accusing her Westie of ripping apart their cat, but as Lily had been inside asleep and was old and rarely went outside she knew it wasn't her. Turns out it was a possum. They certainly can do a lot of damage.

I know they look creepy, but I have learned to love them.  They can be very beneficial around your home.  They can eat 5,000 ticks in a day!

Hugs,

I remember seeing them at our old house. They are kind of creepy. One used to climb up the lilac bush and stare into our dining room window. Creeped Mom out! And they used to hang out on our back deck and taunt me and my kitty sister, Holly. There might be a picture of one in my album.
