Not good news yet... Vote for this post

It turns out  that beautiful Zena has tested hartworm positive and just 2 days before her starting our way, we have had to very sadly say no. There are other circumstances that affected the decision, which I won't go into.

So the search begins -- again. There are a couple that look somewhat promising but I'm not going to jinx myself by getting our hearts too involved or divulging much info until we know exactly what we are dealing with.

Stay tuned . . .

I believe that, too! He sure is picky!

And Georgia is on the case and if she can't find us our dog, no one can!

Sorry to hear that hartworm spoiled you hopes.

I am sure you will find a little warm nose to keep you company.

Yeah, well I think Roo is up there saying, nope, nope, nope, nada, not the one, nope, nope!

And Trip says that what we really want is to have Roo back, healthy and happg, for a few more years.

I tend to agree, even though that's impossible.

I can just imagine how devastating this whole experience is becoming.  You would think that with all the dogs in the world and you wanting just one that this would be a slam dunk.  Very disheartening to say the least.  BUT....if you don't try you never will have another one - so the search continues.  I'll keep my fingers & toes crossed and will have Layla do the same in the hopes your quest proves positive.

Sending hugs    Sandy & (liddle) Layla

BETTER NEWS Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

Here is why I love working with a really great rescue organization: after a lot of thinking and communication, it has turned out the Zena is being treated, her issue is being carefully monitored and treated, her rescue angels would not give up on her OR us, and we are all on board with Zena coming to live with us.

I had gotten some confusing info about her illness, but after talking personally with the vet who is treating her, I understand better now and am confident that she will come through this just fine.

Sometimes you just have to have faith and a great group who believes in what they are doing, and also trusting their expertise.

So, barring any more "disasters" (!) Zena will arrive in 2 weeks. And we are so happy.

Her foster Mom says she believes in this match so much, but for if any reason, after giving it our best shot, it does not work out, she will personally drive up and take Zena back.

I have a feeling that will not be necessary!

So, yeah, it's hard to wait another 2 weeks, but we are all trying to do right by this great girl and I have to believe it will all work out.

And yeah, she has a new engraved nametag, brand new crate, toys, beds, and good good waiting right here for her!

Well, for one thing, she is very talkative. I've heard it with my own ears.

She is housetrained, loves spending time outdoors, and even hanging out in her crate. She lives going for walks and in the car. We were asked to send something with our scent on it to her. So we slept with a bandana and mailed it. Her foster Mom sent me a video and when Zena saw it and sniffed it she went bonkers, wiggling and talking. Then foster Mom put it on her neck and she got all excited. She kept rolling of on the floor. It was so funny!
