Thanks for asking. She seems to be settling in, almost as if she always lived here. She is funny and sweet and has pretty good manners. That being said, she is definitely more Trip's dog and has been from day one, so At times, I feel a bit of a letdown because of having had Roo as a mommy's boy for so long. I still miss him terribly. I didn't really expect ANY dog to take his place.

Right now, I am kind of a mess emotionally because I am in the process of weaning off an antidepressant...my choice to do so, but my colitis is flaring up and every negative thought seems to be magnified.

I don't want these feelings I'm expressing to be misinterpreted. I love Zena, I really do, but somehow having her makes me miss Roo even more. Don't worry, she's not going anywhere and over time maybe she'll warm up to me more. She's not distant to me, but she's totally in love with Trip, and I guess with everything else going on I am feeling a little left out. But I am VERY happy for her and for Trip. He's been wanting a big dog for a long time. And she IS big...somewhere between 65-70 pounds!

So, I probably have given you TMI. But it's early days yet.

I just have to believe time will heal all.
Yes, I do love Zena and I would never consider sending her away for something that is out of her control. She's a keeper and she is part of our family.

Sorry I am such a mess.

Oh Cheryl <3

We know that you love Zena - and we know that Roo was (is) your special boy.  I am sorry you are going thru a hard time right now.  Maybe - down the road - would you consider getting Zena a friend?  Maybe a friend that is a bit smaller that could cuddle up to you?

Thinking of you :)

Maybe. Someday. But she is quite a large dog, about 65 pounds, and that's quite enough to handle. I was told that she likes kids and even ok with cats, but not crazy about other dogs. I don't know if the size of dog is a factor or not.
