Worried, had a few bad days with Nimby Vote for this post

I have had a  situation happen where I am going for a quite important interview on Tuesday this week ,its in Derbyshire and will not really know if  anything will happen but I have to go and see, anyway its only an hour and a half away roughly but because its the day after bank holiday I have booked a large room in a lovely quiet hotel just 3 miles from my interview ...that was fine and then on Thursday morning Nimby was just soo shaky on and off and I did not give her any food etc and she was sickly, runny poops,,thursday night very quiet and not right, all spaced out and then she went and lay down under the conifer shrubs right in a corner...she had done this before once and such a job to get her out calmly..Peter and I managed to and she walked onto her soft beddie which then we carried her inside..she was a wee bit brighter but then yesterday went downhill again..she had not pooped again at all but drinking lots of water..she had a small amount of dinner with the smallest of her wet meat..she seemed fine then but started shaking again,I slept downstairs next to her and on several occasions thought I would have to take her to our vet, things would be shutting down or her,or Tumour had burst into a blood vessel which is what can happen with her liver cancer...she did not move till 1.30am this morning so I let her into the garden on a soft lead as did not want to lose her under the bushes again in the dark..she did a long wee and a poopie..a bit more solid......today she has been a bit brighter and even had a couple of barks but still lethargic...not surprising though ...cutting the story shorter..I think she has been eating pigeon poop from the border where they roost so we got some plastic fencing and shut this area off from both dogs and also checking no pigeon poop anywhere else in garden...I hope she picks up a little ,I cannot go to Derby alone in cas eanything happened and I was not near for her to be with me,we will go steady and keep everything relaxed for her overnight on monday up there...tomorrow is set to be wind and rain all day here in UK so she can relax  again...another thing I have done now is stop all wet meat with her special dried food and no treats at all which were raw carrot, her special dog biscuits even  and charcoal biscuits and an occasional gravy biscuit bone, and to give her her food in smaller doses......needless to say a very very worried and upset mummy is feeling slightly better tonight, she has not been shaky all day, just a bit wobbly and has done another poopie which was normal, when she does drink its quite a lot in one go but I guess her liver condition will cause that but also dried food does as well....I will try sleep in my own bed tonight just to get a few hours undisturbed..by which I mean lay awake stroking her softly and just in case she was sickly......Prayers for a continued better day tomorrow and will post in morning....Thank you for letting me talk to you all here.....Big Hugs and kisses to everyone Annie and Gang xxxxxxxxxxx

Oh Annie, I can see why you'd be very upset and worried. If she was getting into the pigeon poop, that would certainly upset the apple cart! Emmie's famous for scarfing things that she shouldn't, then getting sick and the runs. You'd think they'd learn after the first time, but not our girl! We can't leave her off lead in the garden anymore--she's either eating something she shouldn't or rolling in something she shouldn't...Praying that's what happened to Nimby. I don't know about over there, but here, birds can carry all kinds of diseases including West Nile. We'll keep her (and you!) in our prayers and hope for a good update tomorrow. Praying that you all have a good sleep tonight. Give her a big hug and kiss from Emmie and me.
Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

Glad to hear Nimby is feeling a little better and hope with each day she feels as well as possible. Liver cancer is an awful thing, I lost my Mum to it at the end of February so I certainly can understand how you are feeling. Good luck with the interview hope all goes really well.

So very glad to hear this Annie! Tell Nimby that bestest friend Emmie Sue says chickie tastes way better than pigeon poop any day! Praying she just ate something "off" and will look for another update later.

Re: Worried, had a few bad days with Nimby Vote for this post Reply to this Message Reply with a quote

I'm so sorry to hear Nimby has been ill. Roo had a very sensitive tummy and I would often awake to strange noises coming from his gut which meant I would have to take him outside and hope he did something, anything. But just as often as not, he wouldn't do anything. Sometimes giving him a little pumpkin puree helped, sometimes not, but it used to worry me so. He also would get into things he shouldn't -- they are so fast! Or he'd eat grass and then puke it -- and bile -- up in the middle of the night. So much fun stepping into it in my bare feet.

Now for Princess Zena. So far, she has caught and immediately eaten at least two mice -- live and whole. Ewwww! I kept waiting for her to puke those up but she didn't. And about 2 weeks ago she grabbed 2 chicken thighs (AND plastic wrap) off the kitchen counter. Never saw it happen but I had asked Trip where he moved them and he said he thought I had moved them. Last night she grabbed a hot dog bun. Up until recently, she NEVER stole anything off the counter, but she thinks it's great that we leave the food out for her, so we are going to have to work on that and nip it in the bud. (At least Roo was too short for THAT!)

I have found a local meat processing place that will give me marrow bones for her, but none until next week. Still, they are free, compared to about $5-$6/lb. at the grocery, so that's great. We will get some and cut them down if need be, and keep them in the freezer for her.

So I hope she continues to improve and that she stops eating things that are bad for her! Sending our love to all of you!

Cheryl, it sounds like Princess Zena is keeping you and Trip well entertained! I know it's not funny that she stole the chicken thighs, but I still had to chuckle!

I just told Trip he needs to sign up for some training with her. Now that she's started to really settle in, she is acting spoiled and I don't want to see her, as big as she is, acting like a bully!
