We Hads a Big Hairy Visitor! Vote for this post

Oh my, oh dear, we hads us a big hairy visitor las night who broke right through my garden fence! Oh, I is scared ta go outside when it's dark an I wishes my Drew Boy was here ta protect me!!
Mom here, we had a large (about 450 lb.) black bear in our backyard. The motion detector lights didn't scare him but when he tried to come onto the patio, I started screaming at him and banging on the door. He got spooked and left the same way he came in--right through our fencing....Darn thing has been visiting several homes in our neighborhood lately. Hopefully, since he didn't find anything to eat, he'll stay away from our place! Meanwhile, we're being very cautious when we go outside after dark.
Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

oh dear me.....I would have been scared out of my wits.  We do have them around here as well but in the 16 years I've lived here I have never seen one (and very happy about that.)  However, we do have porcupines, raccoons, deer and perhaps an odd moose - so because of that, we always have pepper spray and a flashlight should we need to go out after dark.  I usually take Layla out around 7:30 for her last widdle while it's still light out.   Have the wardens been advised?  Take care!

That sounds very dangerous.

Guess you need to be very careful and hopefully they can get the bear and relocate him.

Please be very careful

Love Riley

Wow Deb...you were brave to tell that bear to scam. I sure hope he doesn't come back. You stay safe Miss Emmie Sue and bark  lots and loudly to let your mom know if Yoki is in the yard again if he comes back..keep patrol duty brave girl.

Yikes up to the patio? That's pretty scary. I'm all for wildlife being wildlife and not destroying their habitat but I'd freak out if a bear came up that close to my house.
