We had a 6.5 earthquake Vote for this post

Dogs are sure in tune with knowing an earthquake is coming. I seen the signs with Maddie Willie and Emily when we lived in California and Nevada. They would pace whimper and got very anxious before a quake.

On Monday night Grady would not lay down to go to bed and I thought it was odd. He was restless all night. On Tuesday about noon time just 5 hours from the quake he started barking non stop for about 20 minutes.. He was pacing and circling, darting around the house for hours looking up to the ceiling and stiffing the floors. It hit me and I told my husband "we are going to have an earthquake". That is what Grady is telling us.
Sure enough just after 6:00 pm strong jolting hit and we got a 6.5 quake. 13 aftershocks followed .Our home and area is ok and no reported damages. The epicenter is 8 hours from us and was felt in 6 states. No one was hurt thankfully.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying inside.
Hugs Sandra & Master Grady xox.

WOW, it is amazing the kind of senses that dogs have.  He was alerting you to that earthquake, long before you felt it.  Good job Grady.

glad that you are safe.

Presley and I are staying in except to go for a small walk.  it amazes we how many people don't practice social distancing.  I try really hard, I guess some just don't understand this.

take care

I gave Grady lots of praises for his good efforts in letting us know. He was very clingy with me the whole night and understandable. He is still uneasy today but getting back to playing some and chewing on his favorite toys this morning.

We too only get out to do walks. They have a free lunch pick up at the school in our neighborhood and we see the 3 workers and people driving up in their cars have masks and gloves on. Our streets are very empty and most businesses are closed. Seems like most people here are following the rule.
Take care Sandi & Presley, good to hear you both are doing well and staying inside.

Kudos to you Grady ... best doggy seismograph ever!

Living in California, we have a long history of earthquakes and I built an early-warning seismic detector into our house foundation back in the 80's. It didn't detect your quake in Idaho (too far away), but we did get a notification of your 6.5 magnitude jolt from the Berkeley MyShake app on our phones. Glad you guys are safe and unrattled.

Yes California sure has it's share of earthquakes. That's good you have a warning system on the foundation. California reporters always say after a quake that the big one will come someday...8.0 or larger with breathless reporting.  I wish they wouldn't keep reminding us of that. It's an eye roller.
I've heard about that app yesterday. I must get that.Grady can be my backup warning system too.

Thank God you are all safe.

I have herd that animals can hear those low vibrations that are pre-earthquakes.

Hopefully they are all gone.

Way to go Grady!!!!!!

Love Riley and Allen
