high jump Vote for this post

Just when you think they can't reach the counter top
they pull out the flying DOG act.
Grady usually is a pacer with eyes on the floor waiting for a dropped gift of food.
This day he was jumping up and wanting to help his dad at the counter.

I wonder what acts of stealing food have your puppers been caught with..

I'm surprised at how well Emmie does when there's food involved! If I lay a treat on the coffee table, she'll sit and stare at it, but she won't touch it till I give it to her! Now, my latte's are another thing...she'll try her darndest to get a lick of froth off the top! LOL

Oh Grady, just two more inches and it would have been yours!!

You asked, "I wonder what acts of stealing food have your puppers been caught with..."

Well, we could fill a novel with all the acts of food theft in our house. Like Grady, Emmy has a loooong reach and she is always testing us. But the biggest heist (and also the scariest for us) was earlier this year when she jumped up on a low table around lunchtime and grabbed a half-eaten chicken leg off my plate.

Before I could react, she ran off with it and by the time I caught her there was only a half-inch piece of the bone left...she has chomped and eaten almost the whole thing, bones and all!

In a panic, we called our vet and brought her in, worried that the bone shards might perforate something internally (this was just before CV19 hit). The doctor told us to monitor her carefully and feed her only pieces of bread for the next two days. Parts of the chicken leg (mostly gristle) 'showed up' exactly two days later.

As you can guess, we watch her like a hawk now, the sneaky little demon.

After Gradys stunt of leaping to the counter edge we now are having him in the next room at mealtime. Taking no chances.
What a Scare with Emmy chomping down a chicken leg! These clever terriers are quick as lightening. We all fear our dogs getting ahold of a chicken bone. Must be weighing on your mind if parts of that bone are still in there. If she isn't showing any distress maybe she had it pass through with no problem.
Grady chewed half a head off of a TUFFY dinosaur. Tiny pieces of blue material could be seen in his jimmy deans for weeks later. I was cheering the blue poop. LOL
