I wanted to respond to Jill's search for a westie and saw that info about Oklahoma. There are a lot of scams out there anymore. Horrible.
Sandi saw the webpage for Shays Westies. This is where our Chloe came from! She is a retiree from there and we brought her home last October. We love her to pieces and she just the best! Shay is a great guy and has really nice facility. We would not hesitate to get another westie from him. I specifically looked for a retiree and was pleasantly surprised when he called me back after my inquiry.
I don't really know the process of shipping dogs, etc since we drove out to get Chloe--we live in Nebraska. He isn't far from the Colorado border.

I know here in Australia there was even a website showing 6-8 10 month old Westie pups (all single pictures) when someone rang the number they were given the ridiculous price of $1500/pup one of the FB Westie members visited the so called address given of course the owners of the house knew nothing about the pups and were frankly sick of people turning up looking for pups. Turns out it wasn't even an Australian website. I am not sure how many people or if any were taken in by this website. It has since been shut down. One of the prospective puppy buyers said she was asked for a copy of her licence and passport I was very surprised that didn't scream scam.

It's a very sad world that we live in with all these scammers out there preying on our heart's desires! When I read the email that I received from them, I was immediately hesitant based on the wording and poor grammar - the kind of wording and grammar that sends up a red flag that the writer is not located in the US although they are saying they are. Neither veterinarians or the BBB in Norman, OK, had ever heard of them - so more red flags!
Anyhow, we have opted to move on from this and hope to find a local breeder. I continue to watch the SPCA's and animal shelters around our area, and maybe we'll get lucky. We were fortunate to get Waldorf and Statler when they were 10-weeks old and were rescued from a euthanasia site in Missouri and transported to New England. Can we get lucky like that again? Fingers crossed!
