presleys test results Vote for this post

my vet just called, with Presley's urine test results.  He does have a cancerous mass, the vet said it has been found fairly early.  they are gong to call me sometime this afternoon or tomorrow,  it decide what kind of meds to give, I am not going to do chemo , i feel it would be to hard on him, he will be 13  oct 6, and don't what to put him through that, the vet said that with meds, he should have a have a fairly good quality of life, she said possibility 9 months or more.  It is not what I wanted to hear, but at this stage  I will take anything.

he is my boy and I want to do what is best for him.

Sorry to hear that kind of news.

Hopefully he will be with you longer than what the vet said.

Give him lots of love and kisses and of course treats.

We will keep you in our prayers and sending lots of love your way.

Love Riley and Allen

Sandi..my heart goes out to you I know only too well when the vet mentions that word..the shock and emotions that go with it.....Little Nimby they said would have so long but in the end it was longer and  I am sure Presley will go on longer still and certainly with all your love and care you give him..I did not get offered chemo for Nimby but on her meds she did really well and as jolly as ever and Presley will do also. Please give him a Big kiss from us all and Big Hugs for you. and know I am thinking of you,let us know what meds they give Presley also..Annie Biba and Drew xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh Sandi, we are holding both of you close to our hearts and in our prayers. It sounds like Presley is in good hands and your vet is on top of the situation. I just wish vets (and doctors) wouldn't put a time frame on something like this. The vet that operated on Kelsie told us she would be gone within a couple of months and she lived a quality life for a year and a half and we cherished every minute with her. Lets hope that your Presley is with you for a long time. These terriers are feisty and they never cease to amaze me!

thanks guys for your words of encouragement,  the vets office called and presley will start his meds next week, it comes by mail from an out of state pharmacy, she is putting him on Piroxicam

I don know anything about, it but have been doing some research  (I am a retired law library tech), so I am used to do research, it sounds like a pretty safe deug, the vet will monitor  him.

Sandi, I am so so sad about this diagnosis for Presley 😢  I was so praying that things would have turned out differently for him.  It sounds like the vet has a good protocol in place for him.  I pray too that his path forward is painless and that he doesn't have a lot of side effects and also that he will be with you for longer than they they think!

Hugs to you and Presley!

I'm so sorry to hear the news is not what you want. It's true they have some great cancer drugs now. The good/bad news is, they do test human drugs on animals. My (human) aunt lived 5 years without anyone being able to tell she had cancer + another several months when the drug stopped working. Her doctor guaranteed her 9 good months! Go with what Presley tells you and not the vet. If he's eating, drinking and enjoying being spoiled- because I know you're going to give him what he wants- just go with it, even if he needs extra care. You and sweet Presley are in my thoughts.

My heart is breaking for you Sandi and for sweet Presley. I'm so sorry this is what the test results came back with. I had to make the same decision with my westie Maddie when she had tests come back as bladder cancer. You just do what is right in your heart for your sweet boy. Sending hugs to you both.

So very sorry for the unhappy news.  Prayers on the way for all as you travel this difficult journey.  The only "good" thing is that Presley doesn't know he's ill and so he'll live every day a happy boy and on his terms.  Sending gentle hugs.
