advice
hi all, I need your advice on something, as most of you know Presley is 13 and was recently diagnosed with a tumor in his bladder. he is on meds and doing well. I don't know how long I will have him.
here is my question, A 5 years old female westie has just showed up on wag n train terrier rescue, she l sounds like a sweetie and I am thinking about adopting her, but I am wondering how Presley is going to feel about another dog in the house, is he going to be happy that she is here ( i know that he still misses robin) or he is going to think that I don't love him anymore and be upset. I don't know what todo.
any advice thanks
sandi

Re: advice
I'm afraid I can't help you Sandi, I've never had more than one dog at a time but God works in mysterious ways. I'm sure others here will be able to give you some great advice. We'll be waiting to hear how this plays out.Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

Re: advice
Sandi each dog can react differently to introducing a new pup into a home. With Presley missing his terrier pals it may work out that he could welcome a new little one to the house. You know best on behalf of Presley's behavior and how well he gets along. I know you want the very best for Presley and no telling on how comforted he will react with a little rescue coming in to your home.I can only say when Emily got sick she clung on to her sis and Brother closer, the same for when Maddie got ill ,Willie cuddled Maddie. My little clan were together for years and had bonds of love. I'm sorry I don't have any experience in bringing a newcomer into the home at the sundowner stage. I believe your heart will guide you and you and Presley will make the best decision together.

Re: advice
I think you will know Sandi..could they get to meet any how before you decide...when our Collie Emma passed we rescued Andrew for companion for Nimby..they just tolerated each other and were never really great chums i have to say..but then also when we lost Nimby it was a year before we got Biba...and Andrew took to her straight away...they do zoom and play and lay next to each other and know he loves playing and sort of taunting her as she does him...he never played with Nimby as she was boss...yet years before her and Ellie loved playing together,I think if they got on that Presley would perhaps enjoy the company of another, and being a wee gal also..and he has been used to another pupper with him..he will know that you love him I am sure...I know to start with you have to give a bit more attention to a newcomer to settle them in and reassure but also to try and include Presley...in your heart you will know what is best and if they can tell you anything about the Westie gals history or how she ended up in rescue Bless her....we will wait to hear from you when you know moreHugs and kisses Annie Biba and Drew xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Re: advice
If you have a chance to rescue another westie you should take it maybe explain about your dog and if it doesn't work out maybe they would take her back. I have been looking for 5years in the SF bay area for a female and the just do not exist what they have are all $1000.00 and you have to pass interviews rediclous Keep your fingers crossed at 13 there may still be some time our Sissy made it to 15 after 3 bouts with colon cancer Best of luck to you John

Re: advice
Gosh, it would be so wonderful to get that little girl from Janeil. This dog may be really good with Presley. He might like having another westie around. Since he is doing well right now, it may be a decent time to introduce her to your household. I am sure you will come to the right decision for you and Presley. I know westies have been hard to find in rescue around Nebraska for a while now. Good luck! Hugs to Presley!

Re: advice
thanks guys for all of your help. I sent on email to Wag n Train with some additional questions about Coco.
I am leaning towards getting her. If something would happen to Presley, I would still have a little to love. and westies have been really had to get around here.

Re: advice
Hope it works out. I know when I brought Matilda home as an 8 week old pup I had Kelsi 15 and Hannah 13 while both were older neither were sick but the difference a young pup made to the household was so nice to see. They had a lot of fun.
