She might look nice and sleepy and sedate but boy oh boy was she on fire at the vets yesterday. Took her in thinking she had a sebaceous cyst (Matilda has had one before similar area) but no the vet thinks it is a abscess. So off tomorrow for some sedation etc to see if there is a grass seed or what the issue is. She had to be muzzled for the first time ever yesterday she got it off once and they put it back on. They were using a syringe to try and flush out the area she is a strong little lass the vet nurse had a good hold on her but she was determined she was going to get them poor little lass. She had been off her food since Saturday no wonder with that awful thing on her thigh/hip area. I am working from home tomorrow with Matilda so we will be glad when the day is over and she is home with us again.

Maddie Moo is finally getting her hair cut this Saturday can't wait to see her all nice and tidy again. We had to give up on skirts for my little lassies with their skin issues and Matilda's constant need for a bath (weekly for the last few months or so) after her ultrasound in September last year she was left with a lopsided haircut so I had her cut shorter fully intending to regrow a little skirt (not the full traditional look) and I had Izzy cut off shorter as the weather was starting to improve and we were heading for the warmer months I kept them cut shorter and by the time this year came around and summer finally ended at the end of March I just found it easier to have them cut shorter but still with the lovely Westie head.

Awwww I used to call my Maddie -MaddieMoo too. I also had to go short on the skirt after our Maddie started having skin issues. I'm sure the shorter cut made it easy for you to do the bathing and drying and better on the skin you are treating. Your girls always look so lovely. You'll have to share a picture of Matilda after her grooming.Sure she is going to look beautiful and feeling good too afterwards.

About 12 months ago Matilda had an ultrasound as she was having tummy issues the vet shaved her for that so I had the groomer clip her off short intending to regrow her skirt (they always had a short skirt) and Izzy was clipped off short as I couldn't see the point of having 1 with a skirt and one without. Yes you are right allergy issues are so much easier to deal with when their hair is short especially if they require regular bathing. Summer came around and it was quite hot so I kept their hair short as it was much cooler for them and then Matilda got quite a bad yeast and bacteria infection from her muzzle down to her tummy so the vet shaved her off we finally got that infection under control but in the meantime I decided not to regrow their skirts as it is just so much easier for me. Less brushing (I brush them once a week), quicker to bathe and dry off. I've never been a fan of the full on traditional Westie look but always liked the girls to have a little skirt. Maybe if they didn't have allergies I would reconsider skirts but Winter has just finished here and come December we start our Summer months the hot days can last well up until the end of March sometimes into April. The girls groomer can be a little hard to get into she is also a Westie breeder so keeping them short works best for us.

Awwww...rest well sweetie. What an ordeal for her. Sounds like she is in good hands with your Vet and Izzy was a brave girl. Hope her recovery goes smoothly and she'll be feeling much better very soon. Sending gentle hugs.

Bless her little heart, that has to be so painful...I can't blame her for acting out to tell the truth. Hope she's feeling better soon.
