Re: Matilda
Matilda bear had her first cyclosporin capsule today (frozen as this is meant to cut down on nausea) I fed her at 4.15pm and then dosed her @ 6.15pm and then 20 minutes later she got up off the floor tucked her tail down and went into the lounge room and she purged nearly 1/2 of her meal then 30 minutes later a bit more. Thankfully after that she settled down and no more vomiting. I sent thru an update to the dermatologist and vet hopefully I may hear something back tomorrow as the clinic is open 1/2 days on Saturday. Otherwise I will give her another dose tomorrow evening and I guess see what happens. I was surprised they started her at the highest dose. I did tell them about Izzy's issues with the medication and they basically said not all dogs react the same but I did express my concerns given Matilda's ultra sensitive stomach and how I was reluctant to initially try it given her tummy issues. I guess I do know her much better than they do, no surprises there. If she can tolerate the medication this coming week on Friday I have to take her in for a trough blood concentration test.

Re: Matilda
Matilda looks so adorable with her pink snuggle pup toy.My POW vote today!! Diana I am so sad to hear she isn't doing will on the medication. When they throw up their food is a worry. I agree that you know best on what she can handle and the Vet should lower the dose then to give the highest straight away. It may be too strong for your little Lassie.Feel better MaddieMoo.Hugs Sandra & Master Gradyxox

Re: Matilda
Thank you. Well done Sandra for recognizing the snuggle puppy. Matilda has 12 I think at last count (not all in use at the moment).
Spoke to the dermatology nurse this morning to stop Neoral (cyclosporin) for the next 2 days try again Monday and if happens again she said it will be the Neoral. Given she wasn't ill before starting it last night I have no doubt it is the Neoral and always doubted she would be able to tolerate it and expressed that opinion over and over. But I guess we will see what happens when she has a capsule on Monday. I did also query the strength 50mg but they say they always start on the higher dosage then do the expensive trough test and lower the dosage depending on the results of that test. I said I had to do 3 tests within a short time frame with Izzy and still she couldn't stay on the medication not due to vomitting but due to the high levels in her body that would have damaged her kidneys if we continued also she was quite dehydrated and lost 1kg in a short time.
