Doggie Dental Vote for this post

Rookie will have his dental on Jun 19 and the doc will also biopsy the mass on his leg. The estimate for the dental is around $450 to $475. The leg procedure about ,$210. Do these costs seem in line with your experience?

Regarding the mass, I don't know whether that cost is just for a biopsy or biopsy and removal. I forgot to ask but will probably call the office tomorrow.
Did your pup need to go on canned food after the dental?

He has been reluctant about eating his kibble and I think it's because his mouth might be sore from a bad tooth or he's just bored with  his kibble.

Cheryl, I can only tell my experiences with our vet. We had a dental with extractions done on one of our cats and that bill was well over $1000. Last week, when we took Emmie in for her anal gland, the bill was $300. and she goes back next week for a follow up. Vets know they can charge whatever they want. They don't seem to be regulated at all. They know we love our babies and we'll pay whatever it takes to keep them healthy...

Cheryl we just got Grady's dental done a few months ago and it was about the  same cost as yours. When I had Willie Emily and Maddie's dentals done in Nevada and California state we paid much higher at 600.00 - 750.00 each for the teeth cleanings. Yes it was recommended to feed soft foods a few days so I did.It does seem if Rookie is reluctant to eat he may well have a discomfort when eating.
I hope his dental and biopsy go well and his recovery is swift.

I think we found out that Rookie's reluctance to eat is that he's sick of his kibble. He's been on it since we got him. We experimented by buying a can of food, put a small amount of the canned food on and stirred it in. She loved it.

Cheryl ..Drew had about 5 teeth out a few years ago,I cannot quite remember how much but your estimates seem not over and for a biopsy also.
Andrew was on soft food after his toofers out and mushed kibble.

Dental prices are higher here in Australia and vary from vet to vet and suburb to suburb. The vet always used to say 'Kelsi might not want to eat afterwards so only offer a small meal' She obviously didn't know Kelsi well as she always wanted food. I used to give her a small meal (her usual meat cut small) she didn't eat dried food.

Hope all goes smoothly.
